In real world aviation it is very common to arm LOC mode only initially, and then to later switch to APR mode, for full LOC and GS coupling. This is because some towers will clear an aircraft only for the LOC initially; with a later clearance for the GS. Duly noted, I concur. And thanks for explaining the bug here.

Well done Hans and Aerosoft for listening to customers and acting so quickly 1 hour ago, tooting said: They only had 7 years to do that. And 20+ beta testers. Screw this pay to beta junk they have just released To be fair though, what I was asking for (the key commands) wasn't a bug it was a feature. So I don't think it's to do with them not managing to implement it during the 7 years; it's just that they possibly never considered the feature until after release, when a few of us asked for it. It's pretty impressive that only 3 or 4 of us asked for the feature and they've added it already. I hope we don't wait too long for the first update that includes it! August 3, 20178 yr It's worth noting here that software code is vastly more complex these days than it was in the past, so the suggestion that everything has to be released 100% bug free and on time is probably asking for the impossible. August 3, 20178 yr Hans just posted this in the AS support forum concerning the GS bug: "I was able to reproduce the issue and fixed it. A hotfix should be available soon." And this is one of the fixes and user request implementations he made within 27 hours of release. Hans is 100% commited to this project.

Walk back across street, ahhh, there you are my beautiful pmdg bird, let's get outta here. There are a few issues, nothing that has stopped me enjoying it for the most part so far. If you want a 737, 747 or 777 then Pmdg is fine. I would say 60-70% of the complaints I have seen so far are either not reading the manual / forums or not understanding that the crj is not another Boeing when it comes to operation. For instance, the sheer number of people who have asked about speed hold not working (because the crj actually doesn't have an autothrottle) is just mind boggling. personally, I'm fully confident in this becoming a very solid release within a couple of service packs at most. August 3, 20178 yr Anyone else having an issue where the nav mode turns off without warning? That kept happening to me last night (nav source set to fms1). I also found that when in nav mode the aircraft had a hard time staying on course, it kept tracking left by about 20-30 degrees. i've reported it on the AS forums (i wasn't the first one), but i'm curious if others are experiencing this or if i'm doing something wrong. Also, anyone else having an issue with APU power button(the left apu button) not lighting up when engaged? I'm wondering if that's real world behaviour or maybe PTA is somehow making it difficult to see. overall though, very happy with this release. August 3, 20178 yr Updated version now available - you need to redownload the full installer from your Aerosoft account, uninstall the old version and install the new version. I am absolutely staggered that Hans has added the key assignments already and provided an update the day after release - this is fantastic service! This is a perfect example of why Aerosoft has earned my respect with this aircraft. I have seen few developers more responsive to customers than Hans Hartmann. During the wide beta phase, he would often have a fix for bugs within minutes of being reported, and would quickly issue an updated gauge DLL for further testing. On release day, some users pointed out that having keyboard commands to control the autopilot functions would be very useful. Now, just over 24 hours after release, the first hotfix is out with those new features added! In my experience, the only other flight sim developer who is similarly responsive to customer input is Hardy Heinlin, creator of the Aerowinx PSX 747 sim. And it just occurs to me that like Hans, he is also German, and his initials are also "HH". Hmmm - maybe they are actually the same person?😁 Jim BarrettLicensed Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, Avionics, Electrical & Air Data Systems Specialist. The only time the switch will illuminate is if the APU controller detects a fault. After pressing it, you need to reference the system display screen to see when the APU controller has completed its power-on self test. When the APU N1 and EGT indicators appear on the display, that is your cue that the APU is ready to be started. It seems to me also that Aerosoft have been quietly slipping into PMDG/A2A study level territory. Perhaps not to the same extent, but their Catalina is superb and is a challenge to manage, not just a Catalina-shaped DC3, if you know what I mean. The Twin Otter Extended was far than just a facelift for the existing model, there is real depth in the systems modelling, even if those systems aren't as deep as a 737 or Q400.
