Please explain the benefits of the Full Reinstall. I see none unless you cannot understand simple instructions.

Can’t recall when I needed to perform a full reinstall of an existing stable operating system, and that includes Windows XP and Windows 7. This compulsion to waste time and energy carrying out such needless tasks constantly baffles me. Keeping yourself reasonably secure by behaving sensibly and resisting any temptation to meddle unnecessarily are all that is needed to guarantee lasting good karma.

I am going to stick my neck out and say for me, it is smoother than the NGX. Previously, I could not fly that tart into airports bigger than childs playground, well I just flew into EDDF, and it was just great. I think they have cracked it this time.

Great to hear that! Once you have a spare moment, could you please check FSL's performance during the night conditions with DL=ON?

Thanks

Will do. I did check it at NZAA, which is only default and was smooth, will check FT KBOS and see what happens.

Surely you don't have to upgrade to a new platform  version if your purposes are for actual training.  You continue with the functional version and run a new version in parallel or implement it once everything is completed.   The thinking you have suggested seems very similar to the thought process of an academic end user.  There is no need for a commercial user of the platform to upgrade at all simply because it has a new rendering/graphics engine.  That key difference between us and them is exactly that - function above form.  But what do I know.

Maybe the F35 Sim folks run secret forums of their own with forum topics like 'Guess the date of V5? ' - and then slag each other off all day for their silly suggestions. '  I couldn't imagine where else that would happen.

LOL I did not mean to wake you guys up! Maybe I gave a bad example. My point is that P3d is kind of a living growing thing. Think more into the future. I don't really think that commercial user like the Air Force will be holding up training while waiting on better twinkling stars. For God's sake give someone else a little credit for have a bit of a brain other than yourself. Many of the things we play around with in our simulators now will be used in future projects and training programs. You ask "but what do I know" ...well based on you rude and surley comments above.....My answer would be probably not a hell of a lot. Sorry I posted on your forum.

I just did a departure out of lgw.

With 4k on with DL on the stutters have subsided a bit. It's not fixed completely. You still get the stutters when you start your take off roll from 8r with the terminal bang in front of you.

The taxi out was smooth as hell. But the Gatwick unoptimsed scenery is still prevelent with DL on

It is all about maintaining a clean and lean Windows, not achieving this by re-installing three times a year...

Reinstalling a few times a year is fun and allows you to sometimes make a mess of the system (when you for instance want to test various things or programs). Keeping a system clean and mean all the time is too hard for me LOL A freshly installed system ALWAYS is cleaner and meaner than a maintained system, even a meticulously maintained system. But hey, to each his own! 😉 As I said, reinstalling Windows and everything really is something I can look foward to and enjoy! Yeah, I know, I'm nuts. 😉

Yeah, but who wants to behave sensible and resist temptation for years and years...?! I surely don't! 😋 Apart from that, I didn't say everyone should do this: I simply said I like doing it, which is something completely different. Still, I do think that some people here could benefit from a fresh install.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit was installed when I purchased my current PC in August 2014. It has not been reinstalled to date.

Same here.

Moreover, P3Dv3,0 was installed in October 2015 and I had merely updating it for the new patches. The new machine was built in July 2017, P3Dv4.0 was installed and since then I have been adding the LM updates only.

The key here is to properly set your OS and the main sim in the beginning. Other than that, you would just need to keep the motor running.

and it strongly depends how one treats the system ... if people install and uninstall many programs the performance of windows goes down after some time.

In this thread its easy to tell the difference between the crusty old simmers and the one's fresh of the boat! 😁

same.

I've installed it and have flown around a bit during day, night, dusk/dawn from/to large hub airports.  It works well enough and looks good but not sure I'm seeing any performance improvements - all settings and installations remaining the same.  However, it's no worse either.

It probably is overkill but a day of my time I don't mind. I keep installers etc etc backed up on a USB 1tb hard drive. So I could of done it quicker. I just took my time. Like I said peace of mind, I've got my flat to myself this week so made the most of it by getting a reinstall done
