Jim, though it's been many years since we last worked together, I recall fondly each time we published reviews of new editions of Microsoft's flight simulator and pioneering add-ons, and with Tom's leadership organizing annual expositions across the country to bring enthusiasts together with one-another and with developers.

Along with so many others I'm adding my encouragement, based on personal experience, that with today's medical knowledge you can expect to recover fully. I'm a survivor (at least so far) of stage 4 melanoma that had metastasized to both lungs and a kidney, diagnosed some three years ago. Throughout the past year I've been in full remission. After a year of infusions my immune system was "educated" to recognize and destroy melanoma cancer cells. Because of immunology research and related advances over the past 5 years or so, I'm here today. Along with simming friends I've made here in San Diego I look forward to even more amazing advances in simulation realism.

Maury,

Thanks for your comments.  I suspect you were on Keytruda which is one of the treatments I am receiving.  Glad you survived your ordeal!

Best regards,

Jim

I simply cannot believe all of the well wishes I have received concerning my cancer.  It is great to know I have several members watching my back as I continue to go through the treatments for my lung cancer. I am taking two Chemo and one Keytruda treatment every three weeks.  On my third treatment.  I want to thank everyone for your kind comments and prayers for my recovery.  This is what makes the Flight Simulation Community so special.  We all care for one another.

Best regards,

Jim

Jim,

First, thank you for all the time you've dedicated to sustaining AVSIM over the years; like many here, this is one of the very rare sites I check ever day.  Secondly, thank you for being fair; I've ask for readdress on a few occasions and always found your responses to be equitable, even if I didn't get 'my own way.'  Finally, I have no doubts you'll kick cancer's azz; you simply don't seem like someone who gives in/up easily. Good luck and please continue to let us know if you need anything and how you're doing.  Get em, sir!

Jim, I just returned from a very long weekend in Xenia, Ohio at the Dayton Hamvention to learn of your health issues. I will be keeping your needs in my prayers.

I knew something was "odd" since I seem to have lost my moderating powers, yet still have full access to the Admin CP. Moderators CP seems to have vanished without a trace...

Regardless, keep the faith and know that we have your back!
