Hello all,

I just wanted to give a huge, and I mean HUGE, shout out for Bert.

I recently got the RXP GTN750 to replace the Flight1 programme which I could not get to work despite all the help, from so many people, on these forums (Forae??)

Downloading and installing the RXP software was incredibly simple using the Flight1 red fight wrapper, that, according to Flight1 was no longer usable????.

Before downloading, I disabled Avira, Win Defender and, after numerous installs of the RXP GTN, uninstalled Advanced System care. I was installing RXP as administrator.

After a lot of fruitless installs, I could not get the programme to work at all. all the documents were installed in the right places but P3D was not processing anything through the add-ons menu bar. I was able to carry out all the actions but nothing was responding.

In desperation, I called on Bert Piekes' expertise. After a lot of time, (three days), uninstalls/reinstalls and emails back and forth, we worked out that something was not allowing the rxpGTN.dll to go into the program Files/Reality XP/fltSim/GTN Simulation/64 folder. (it was in the 32 Folder but not in the 64 folder.) I asked Bert to send me a copy of his 64 folder which he thankfully did. I then had to modify my "Access" privileges to allow me to modify the 64 folder. I then replaced, in total, that folder and everything was solved.

The penny dropped, when Bert sent me a screenshot of his 64 folder which revealed 4 entries and mine only had 3. We made rapid progress from there.

One thing I will say, is that Bert pointed out my error in installing this programme as administrator. This is apparently not recommended by Jean-Luc (RXP) It should in fact be just a standard installation.

So, two things left to say.

1. Bert, YOU ARE A MARVEL. If it was possible or feasible to start a Bert Pieke fan Club. I would be its founding member .. I simply cannot thank you enough for your help, experience and tolerance of my fumbling ineptitude.

2. How (Many words not allowed) good is this RXP programme?   I am absolutely loving it and its range of abilities and ease of use is incredible. I have to admit, and from and extremely biased point of view, that it is a much better programme than the Flight 1 version.  I can honestly say that, that statement is coming from the experience of using both of these GTNs.

For what it is worth, RXP is, and always will be, my recommendation for a GTN 750.

A great ending for a great product.

Thank you Jean-Luc and to you Bert.

I don't know why - not being a user - Yet - I always had the impression that Flight 1 GTN 750 was for the P3D/FSX

-- and the RXP 750 was for XP11

Probably because Carenado always refers to an P3D aircraft ready for Flight 1 GTN 750 integration

and all their XP aircraft - for Reality GTN 750

I assume you weren't trying to install flight 1 into XP11 ???

Reality XP

One version is for FS9 and FSX/P3D and there is another version for XPlane. IT IS/THEY ARE BRILLIANT (I have both versions and would not swap them now)

What I can say, is that RXP make a Carenado aircraft truly worth flying. Flight plans etc are so easy and intuitive.

No, it's not.

I regularly fly planes with the Flight 1 GTN and never had a problem, either using it or installing/re-installing it. In your case - and I'm glad Bert Pieke helped you resolve the issue - it seemed to be a local user problem.

Ricardo41,

I very much respect your opinion, but, like mine, it is an opinion.

Happily, we are both right.

I, personally, will not ever recommend a F1GTN again. That, I further admit, could be due entirely to a "local user problem"  It occurred and got wide documented coverage of "MY EXPERIENCES" My biggest issue was with the support system, not the product, which I did enjoy for a brief period before my problems started,.and the lack of satisfaction I personally got from it due to the support system.  Support for the product plays an enormous part in the product/consumer relationship and will always colour the overall experience for the user. I could not, credibly, elaborate or share, your good experiences with the Flight1 GTN. My experience was abysmal to say the least. Other than the support issue, I do prefer the RXP version and that again, is my opinion.

I genuinely wish you well with the F1GTN

Regards

Tony

ditto!

Been using Flight 1 GTN 650 and then the GTN 750 650 combo. Installed easily and never had a problem with it. Many people use it, so I seriously doubt that the software has major issues.

Guess you're one of the lucky ones, many on their own forums seem to have issues turning the GTN on (or rather it not turning on). I had that and (when it did turn on) a hard freeze on my system - occasional on p3d3, very frequent (ie unusable) on p3d4. Only ever happened whilst using F1 GTN, never with anything else in simulator or many other games. Response from support was literally "Hard to sort issues like that, it's probably your hardware"......

.... funny since it has only happened with the F1 GTN loaded, since switched to the RXP GTN and not only does it turn on every time but no crashes, none ........

Totally incorrect.  A look at the product depictions on the Reality XP website could have instantaneously dispelled that impression.  And a visit to the much traffic'd Reality XP support forum area here on Avsim would have also better informed.  Check it out.... (see below)

Tried both (only because at the time F1 was the only option). Switched to RXP - in my opinion (that's my opinion, folks), RXP is way better. More compatibility with differing Trainers, the elegant and easy integration into a model configured for F1 and to me, it just seems to run better. Very prompt compatibility updates with new Trainers and P3D updates and of course, great support.

What can I say? (How about those FLTN gauges, JL? 😁)

The point is, Bert Pieke is quite the gentleman!  Thanks Bert for all you've done over the years!
