March 21, 20206 yr I feel your pain. I worked for a major US airline for 36 years. Retired in 2016. I was laid off during the air traffic controllers' strike and for a while during one of the recessions. I was lucky enough to have enough time to stay after 9/11 but I watched 18,000 co-workers lose their jobs a month later. It seems that the airlines and its employees are most heavily impacted whenever there's a hiccup in the economy. Hang in there. Things will eventually stabilize and you'll get back to work. At least this gives you the opportunity to social distance.

March 21, 20206 yr Sorry to hear that. I feel for not only you but anybody whose jobs are at risk in the aviation familiy. I work at the Civil Aviation Administration and us too will see many jobs disappear during the next 6 months. EASA PPL SEPL + NQ / CB-IR in progress MSFS24 | X-Plane 12
March 21, 20206 yr I can sure relate to those who are seeing their lively hood disappear, especially when it's a job they love. Been there and it's a tough thing to endure especially when you have a family depending on you. If it's any consolation the world has been through worse and endured. I am currently reading "The Last Lion" a three volume biography of Winston Churchill. Think of Londoners who couldn't get a nights sleep during the blitz without having to run to the subway tunnels when the sirens blared not knowing if they would have a home when the bombers left. This old yank is ever grateful to that generation of tough Brits and old Winston who I feel was the greatest leader of the last century. They saved the world. For encouragement I like to listen to Churchill's " Never Surrender" speech, "Their Finest Hour" and "Never Give In". Inspiring to any people anywhere at any time. Vic green
March 21, 20206 yr Very sorry to hear that your job was eliminated, Alan. This is of little to no consolation, but there are many, many people world wide losing their jobs, either temporarily or possibly permanently, at this time. March 21, 20206 yr All restaurants in Florida are take out only now. No inside seating. All gyms closed, all beaches closed, all bars closed, some banks are drive through only. This is getting crazy. I went past Walmart this morning on an errand and I don't think you could get another car in the parking lot. The same for 3 groceries I passed. Sam's club was overwhelmed with cars. So much for social distancing huh? Thank you. March 21, 20206 yr Dude! That really sucks. Sorry to hear that man. It's chaos here on the us side of things. No airline is immune. I'm lucky enough to have tons of seniority below me but I'm still feeling the pressure. Hang in there. March 22, 20206 yr I am a small business owner and almost completely shut down. Paychecks and bills must be paid, but with what? I fear that I will soon be telling people they must file for unemployment. Never thought I would have to do that. Unbelievable.

Simple, you do go to the store, but, as you approach the store, you stand in the open doorway, then attract the attention of the shopkeeper. Now, keeping your shotgun on him at all times, you say something along the lines of 'Now I ain't lookin' fer trouble mister, so you just slide over them goods, real easy, then back away.' For general social distancing applications, I'd recommend this approach: Edited March 22, 20206 yr by Chock Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
March 23, 20206 yr You go but keep your distance. If you need something in an aisle, sneeze or cough. The aisle is now yours. 😄 Thank you. March 25, 20206 yr supermarkets in my area are only allowing a max number in, then one in after one out and you must queue spaced apart outside. My daughter shops for me and my wife now, lets hope this passes in just a few months or we are looking at a deep recession some have already stopped buying just in case, sales are down on line. March 28, 20206 yr Author Well, just a bit of an update on this thread's original post. Got this letter today. So whilst not great news for aviation at large, it is not as bad news as it could be from a personal standpoint, particularly given that I really do like my job and the company I work for is very good. anyway, I figured it might be of interest to those following the flying world's problems related to Covid 19, to know what at least one service agent company is doing. Makes sense really, after all, they don't want to come out of the other side of the crisis and have no staff on board with the skills necessary to get the ramp at EGCC up and running again ASAP...
