Extremely long loading time with P3DV5

I should add the highest increase in loading time by a wide margin came with the 200 or so ORBX add-on.xml entries.

Kind regards, Michael

Would it help to install them directly into the P3D Folder?

I didn't try it, but perhaps. I had them in the Simulator folder until 4.5 and loading time (with a lot of more sceneries installed overall) was < 5 min. Now the question is, is the new add-on.xml method or the new simulator the culprit.

Kind regards, Michael

I have 4GB of Alpha India Group AI aircraft models.

I have all available flightplans installed. 44GB in total. So what do you think happens to my loading time?

Greetings, Chris

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 2x32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM, MSI RTX 4090 Ventus 3X, Windows 11 Home, MSFS2024

I do have 663GByte on my designated Flightsim m.2 SSD (Drive D) and several files on Drive C in Appdata and ProgramData.
I also need several minutes to be ready to fly. All this ORBX and TOGA Stuff needs so much time to load, even when I don't fly in any orbx covered region, like Vietnam or Sibiria...

So far I didn't install the IVAO MTL... This would add another 2-3 minutes, from my previous experience.
I do have a really fast computer, all the latest drivers, but I really, really have to be patient.
The Task-Manager doesn't give me a clue, why it takes so long. None of my CPU Cores is at 100%, there's plenty of RAM available...everything should be perfect...But it isn't.

And to make it even worse, sometimes when I change settings via P3D menu during flights in dense areas like PNW, the sim hangs and I have to shut down manually, which gives me another 8 minutes loading time. I have the feeling that my loading times are longer than some flights.

Don't 🙂 The only - so far - package available for Prepar3D v5 is the full package. It adds more than 370 x 3D models and more than 9300 x livery.

When I activate IVAO_MTL it extends my P3D v5 boot time by more than 7 minutes.

Complete outside, I don't install anything inside the Sim if it isn't mandatory.

I'll have a look at the ORBX forums if this has been brought up

I had very long loading times in dense Orbx regions like GES / EDDF. After disabling scanning in Acronis True Image all came down to 60 - 90 seconds at the max. Maybe there is something similar on your system? Good luck

Mick

Why don't more people also post on the LM forum?  A quick check shows very few posts there about v5 loading times, yet it is clearly something that is affecting users..

While Avsim is the best place to discuss problems with other users, relatively few people go on to raise these issues directly with LM.

Good reminder. Here are (at least) one direct link to the thread on IVAO MTL excessive loading time in P3Dv5 compared to P3Dv4 : http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6312&t=137863&p=217799&hilit=ivao+loading+time#p217682

If there's any other, feel free to share.
