The release on August 18 will not be a full release.  It will be a beta release, something like version 0.8.4.

Version 1.0.0 won't be until mid-2021.

Just my 2c.

Why on earth would real pilots be any more concerned than anyone else about getting kicked out of the alpha?  I'm not following your logic thread there.

Because some pilots have knowledge and experience that can carry a certain level of weight in their opinions when it comes to how an aircraft performs that are modeled. Some of those pilots also could be developers that also run a business.  So, their information could be subject to scrutiny and if too much is given that potentially could violate the NDA. So they would less likely to spread any details sparing themselves loss access to alpha and their reputation with the relationships they are establishing with Microsoft or in general.

Whereas the average simmer has nothing to the loose but access to the alpha.

Have you ever consider that some pilots could also be developers?  I would think they would be less likely to take that risk losing access.

Of course real world pilots are going to be less critical because they are under the NDA and don’t want to get kick out for the Alpha program.

I was talking about what they say in the Alpha forums, where they can say anything they want without violating the NDA.

Obviously they're not going to say much outside the Alpha forums.

This isn’t complicated. MS wants the project to make money, which is likely the reason for the early release.

They could have had their cake and ate it to by doing a public, paid early access release after the closed alpha (yes, it’s 13000 people, but it’s still closed). By doing a full release now, they will be judged by the standards of a full release

Where do you get the idea that this is an early release? It has been in development for 6 years.

Oh, forget it. I give up.

Why should be? How you recongize, what is version 1.0.0 and what is only a Beta?

After years of super-slow development of all of our simulators plagued by some age-old issues, we will finally get a fresh approach with a promising new feature set, worldwide default scenery as never seen before, and 3rd party devs behind it. Like anything new it will come with flaws, but given our passion was more and more entering a dead-end street walked up by grumpy old men (include me here), I find such position just daunting.

Kind regards, Michael

Watch this location, it's gonna be interesting:

Montage Mountain? We live in the same area I believe. I’d love to see snow covered ski trails in MSFS .

I just pre-ordered the deluxe version. I've never done something like this before. I feel like a rebel! So risky!!! Hahah

Anyways, can someone help me out? When I finished my purchase, it said there were no linked devices for my Microsoft account. I tried dabbling around in the control panel and couldn't find anything.

So, question is, how do I know when my computer is linked to my Microsoft account?

Also, once it's linked, do I have control over my physical install location like steam and Ubisoft allow me too.

I'm just as excited as you are about the new sim.

However, it looks to me like it is going to release with a number of important features either not included or not yet mature/bug free, like ATC and AI traffic.

The release is being rushed, which IMO is a good thing as we will soon have thousands of beta testers finding all the flaws and bugs so hopefully they get resolved quickly.

It will take time for the developers to fix all the issues, flaws, bugs, etc. and get important features added.  That's when I'll buy it.

No, enter the coordinates, its a spot in Austria where on Bing maps the scenery jumps from snow to grass. Interesting spot to see what MSFS makes of it.
