July 30, 20205 yr This really makes it difficult. Not sure if I should cancel my order and get it through Steam instead. What's more beneficial do you guys think? Just stay with what you've got. You can almost certainly register your MS-purchased copy with Steam if you really want to. In the meantime, here's some Steam for you: Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
July 30, 20205 yr Well, in Canada it's actually cheaper to buy it on Steam since there is no tax on Steam purchases (unless you live in Quebec). Edited July 30, 20205 yr by Tuskin38

No brainer choice-wise for the Canadian simmers then, and a slight PITA for those in Quebec in having to drive over the border to an internet cafe to make the purchase. 🤣 Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
July 30, 20205 yr Well I'm staying with MS store and use Steam for many games. I been simming since FS2002, FS2004, FSX and now looking forward to MSFS. Just bought a new 1Tb SSD for loading the new sim and lots of D/Loaded scenery and add-on files although probably will need more space lol. I hope we don't have edit the c fig file as much as we used too or the reloading of the sim which was a huge effort. Well it will be a fun journey and only 18.5 days to go. I was wondering if I paid tax through the MS store or not...good enough reason to move to Steam. If FS was to be purchased on the MS Store, a separate Steam key would be required in order to activate on Steam. That is almost - although not quite - as rare as rocking horse poo. You could, of course, add a shortcut to the game in Steam but, as I noted earlier in this thread, that does not confer you any of the benefits of the key actually being activated on Steam (aside from being able to access your friends list). July 31, 20205 yr Virtually all of my other games are on Steam, so I didn’t rush into pre-purchasing from MS when it was available knowing (hoping really) that it would be available from Steam. I will be buying from steam, since they have a good track record in my book, and will be a good backstop in case MS does something “fishy” later on to consolidate the store with their other venues that I may/or may not want to be apart of. July 31, 20205 yr As an Older Simmer/Gamer, Not sure or totally comfortable with all this Online platform purchasing. Though I do find Steam to be much easier to use than the Microsoft store. All the Sign up for Xbox etc can be intimating. Having used Steam for FSX-Se I feel more comfortable specially the Sim repair, install options, Libraries let alone DLC. Haven't decided yet where I will be purchasing but leaning towards Steam. I will be following closely AFTER release.
July 31, 20205 yr I'll be preordering via Steam today. It's just easier and I've never liked the MS store. I've really not been able to get back into Flightsimming since Microsoft announced they were dropping the franchise just after 9/11. Every sim out there is nothing but addon's galore and I just want a good base sim and if I want to make a purchase later down the road I can. I just hate feeling like I need to drop hundreds of dollars to make it feel like a complete simulator. The only thing that might be 3RD party I would need is possibly a flight planning software? I've not seen how lacking or robust the stock one is in MSFS. Been toying with starting a VA to, sounds like that could be loads of fun.

I did not know that and purchased on the MS store....got hit with $20 of HST (VAT tax). Just going to stick with it now, I prefer not having to run the steam app every time you run a program. July 31, 20205 yr I dont have to run steam when running FSX-SE. (Offline option) Besides, who knows if you wont have to run Xbox online when running MS? I dont know?
