Obviously, some clever developers were able to use the preliminary SDK plus some intuition to start coding months ago. I grant it to them as they have gone though difficult times. And I join in the hope for mild prices given sales numbers, notably for the initial items, might be stellar compared to the last year. Kind regards, Michael Common belief, Michael, or the Day of Reckoning for the systematic disinformation campaign of a bitter consultant working for the competition ? Anyway, I agree with you we’ll see more products soon, I would not be surprised to see some Orbx airports before Labor Day. Optimistic maybe but not too much. Prices : 50 AUD are 30.40 EUR and 15.20 EUR in an Orbx sale. Seems pretty reasonable to me for a full blown international airport. August 4, 20205 yr I would think that the process of making scenery in the new sim much less complex as we already have a strong foundation in the base sim. From the past video posted about airport creation it seems like one needs to focus mainly on the buildings because there's already orthoimagery for the ground using Microsoft's Bing. $49 for an airport is a bit absurd. I hope developers don't get greedy and see this as an opportunity to milk money from us simmers. Price it fairly at a sweet spot and you will definitely get more people to purchase it in the long run. You don't think between now and then they could have been given permission? They don't strike me as the type to just go off half cocked like that. Same with PMDG. 2 weeks is like 2 years in this news/development cycle. Why only 2 images and not a ton more? That is not even close to proof. Edited August 4, 20205 yr by Jeff Nielsen Jeff D. August 4, 20205 yr 49.95 AUD is around 35.00 USD. Orbx always prices in Australian dollars. Wonder if there is a discount for owners of the p3d version. They did that I believe for p3d to xplane customers.
August 4, 20205 yr I might be wrong but I would be surprised if the pricing isn’t considerably cheaper than we are used to. I think if they want to capture the attention of the more casual simmers that are new to the genre keep prices low and sell on mass would be my approach. Maybe over time will see them creep up especially when the need to rush the product out Isn’t there and thats the time I’d probably expect when we will see the best of what the 3pd market can create. Exciting times for sure.

I remember the last time we went through this with FSX when we were developing and beta'ing, things didn't always fall in to a perfect order. Maybe the same thing applies here? I'm not really sure why anyone should be upset by this on the dev side. It's not like you're going to lose sales. I understand people are going want to get the hype train moving, but trust me, you'll be just fine. Jeff D. August 4, 20205 yr It is encouraging that PMDG and now Gaya have been able to show products in the new sim, which makes me hopeful that it will not require years to have sufficient quality add-ons to really enjoy what Aboso/Microsoft have developed -- it may be only a matter of weeks before we see the first ones. Hopefully, scenery development will be easier and less cumbersome with the new (or emerging) SKD. The fact that there is less need to pay attention to the surrounding scenery and landmarks may also help development take less time. And hopefully this will result in lower prices for such products. I agree that 35 to 50 US dollars for an add-on airport seems steep in this new sim, and, I for one, do not plan to pay these amounts when I fully move to MSFS, and I am a pretty dedicated simmer with thousands in add on products over the past decade. I also agree with those who said that these kinds of prices will keep all but the very dedicated away from investing more. But I also do not know how much cost and work goes into developing such a product or what a fair price is; I just know I will be very reluctant to pay such a price. That is just a personal choice, of course, but I want to be more thoughtful of what I purchase and how much I pay. And has not Microsoft already said they will be producing free and paid additional content, including scenery and aircraft. Edited August 4, 20205 yr by Cognita MSFS 2024. Well first off didn't Asobo say there were 80 hand crafted airports, I could be wrong, and there will only be 40 in the Premium Deluxe right? For sure there will be missions, liveries, and who knows what? Maybe just maybe a few 3rd parties are ready with something. Or maybe they are not even ready, or if they are, don't want to introduce the Market Place yet, till they see how downloads and purchases go, initial bugs after thousands of people start flying in the sim. I kind of doubt the Market Place will be open on the release date, but maybe it will be? To be blunt, I can't think of a dumber response to the market opportunities this new sim opens than to increase prices that already seem totally bonkers to anyone who hasn't been a hardcore simmer for decades... Even $20 may not be the sweet spot. Think big! How many copies of a gorgeous airport like this could you sell to the huge crowd of people who have already bought this sim at $10? I know, that's crazy! But I'll bet you quite a bit that a lot more than twice as many people are willing to drop $10 on an airport than $20... Stratospheric addon prices might make sense in a tiny niche market. Developers, you have a golden window of opportunity to change the rules and reverse the cycle that's turned our hobby into an increasingly insular one! James Yeah like they are all going to agree to charge less.... If no one buys it, then it will drop in price. Knowing many users here on avsim...people will line up to buy it at this price point because they want to play pretend pilot into Vienna.
