Not ready for release :/

Featured Replies

User of flight sim since about 1995. Never experienced anything like the chaos of this release. Downloading crashes every 15-20 mins and needs restarting, but might be due to server overload so some leeway on this.

But once eventually installed, the sim itself is just not ready:

1. No joystick presets (or, if it works for some people, it doesn’t work for everyone - which is inconsistent and therefore worse).

2. CTD - in my case, I’ve only been able to fly once without a CTD. Reinstalled : same issue.

The excuse that “it’s early” is not acceptable : if it’s ready enough to take money for, it should work without this kind of nonsense.

My verdict is that this obviously shows promise but it has the feel of a product that’s still in quite early alpha: not even beta.

My conclusion: wait - probably quite a long time - for this to become market-ready. Or, if MS’s track record here is anything to go by, abandoned.

Joystick preset?  No sim these days does that.  Just bind everything the way you want it.  The customization is powerful!

I felt the opposite. Install went well, nearly all input devices were detected and pre-configured (Ryan, they did that) and had a flawless 6 hour test run yesterday.

But as you said - that should be the case for everyone.

Really? A new topic for this....

No issues with the joystick binding just people jumping the gun and making rash impatient decisions on a sim they’ve had for literally hours.

There has been hardly any issues with CTD reported from what I’ve seen.  To say the sim isn’t ready because of that I doubt we would of played FSX for the first 5 years then.

1) All my controls had presets the second I opened the Sim

2) Over 6 hours doing countess flight around 15 hours within the sim.

My Verdict, its all your end.

Spot on! This sim is released WAY to early!

Yes, lets make 1000 new topics of this Same subject.

9900k@5GHz, 32GB@3200 RAM, Strix RTX 2080ti, VKB Gladiator mkii, VKB rudder pedals

Apparently the bog standard CH yokes and pedals are not recognized, which is a definite oversight as they are so plentiful.

That said, all my hardware was recognized. I have a Honeycomb yoke, Thrustmaster TPR pedals, A VirtualFly TQ6 throttle quadrant, Saitek three-lever auxiliary quadrant (which I use mainly for the spoiler axis and to provide some extra switches). All were recognized. The axes of the yoke, rudder pedals and brakes were automatically assigned. It assigned the two throttle, prop, and mixture axis of the TQ6 quadrant. It did assign throttle prop and mixture on the Saitek quadrant as well, which I deleted to avoid conflicts with the TQ6.

I also have an X-Box controller which I purchased specifically for controlling the drone camera. I deleted all assignments for that, leaving only the camera assignments.

Everything worked fine. No issues at all.

I never had a CTD at any time during the alpha test, and have not (as yet) had one with the release version, which is more than I can say for P3DV5.

Bingo! Absolutely right.

Of course, you won't get anyone to admit that. When something goes wrong, it's of course the developers fault. The end user NEVER does anything wrong, and their system is ALWAYS impeccable and runs smoothly with NO errors at all.

After I saw a guy complain and moan about an issue regarding listing of airports in these very forums, that was rectified by him simply restarting the sim, meaning he had just started it, found an issue and then rushed to the forums, I've kinda lost faith in people's ability to do any sort of sensible troubleshooting.

Same. Several small inconveniences downloading and setting up, but now it’s in, I’m in VFR heaven. Apart from the odd CTD...
