Do 4K users need NVIDIA 3080 ???

Agreed!!!

You really need a PCIe 4.0 slot to take advantage of the new 30xx cards or you will be limited by the Bus Speed!

No, you really don’t....

Q: Will PCIe 3.0 bottleneck the RTX 3090? Concerned because my Intel system does not support 4.0.

A: System performance is impacted by many factors and the impact varies between applications. The impact is typically less than a few percent going from a x16 PCIE 4.0 to x16 PCIE 3.0. CPU selection often has a larger impact on performance. We look forward to new platforms that can fully take advantage of Gen4 capabilities for potential performance increases.

I'll believe it when I see it!

From a sales perspective... Of course they want to downplay it...!

Right now just sounds like a sales pitch to get people to buy the new 30xx cards who aren't upgrading their motherboards!

And then, by the time we finally upgrade our PC's to accommodate the 30xx cards and update our MOBO/CPU/RAM.
Nvidia will announce their newest better than ever 40xx cards that will occupy 4 slots and use 1000w.

It is. The never ending story.

Ramón.
Time, is the one thing no one can buy.

Along with PCIE-5

The obscene power draw of gaming Ampere is because of the poor Samsung process and the large amount of GDDR6X modules. If the rumours about Hopper on TSMC 5nm are true and GDDR6X modules become bigger by then, we should be looking at 250-300W TDP for the top-end cards again.

Meh... These FPS benchmarks really don't apply to flightsims as much.  The games they are comparing are almost exclusively using the GPU and CPU is not as important.

The FPS benchmarks for GFX cards in P3D shows not nearly as much improvement in FPS if you go by past history...

I would really like to see how much of a difference there is in MSFS when these cards hit the shelves.

Yeah, because they're mostly CPU bound... MSFS still can make use of a lot of GPU power if you go for 4K resolution or a multi monitor setup, and at some point maybe for the high fps needed to power a VR headset - if the CPU can handle it. However, as Asobo's planning to release a VR version at some point, I guess some optimisations are in the pipeline.

Wait are you telling me you can just take the regular fan housing off and use 2 noctua fans zip tied to the card? I have a Noctua CPU cooler and the thing is awesome. My Zotac 1080TI is already on its 2nd fan. They seem to be garbage

I would be really interested to learn more about how to do this.

Bottom line ampere worth the money with 1080P?: nope.

At 4K? yep

Is 1080P system cheaper than 4K?: half as many $ (adding up lesser monitor, cpu, psu, gpu price).

Does 4K look a lot better than 1080P?: yep (and in everything else you do on the computer, not just games).

I think most here would pay the money for the better hardware if they tried both a matched complete 1080p and 4K system free trial at home for 2 months each.
