I think that you can set up FSUIPC to start FS. I did not venture into that option.

Not yet, according to John. MSFS hasn't provided the wherewithal to do that. It seems the sim has to look for FSUIPC not the other way round. Although FSUIPC does close when the sim closes. The ball is firmly in Asobo's court.

Yes it does close.

Jose-

Do you start both MSFS and FSUIPC with a BAT file or do you start them separately. This Sim is an entirely new beast in so many ways!

Ta- C

I have created a .bat file to start MSFS -fastlaunch and FSUIPC simultaneously.

Here are Instructions for the remote ALT SEL for the M20R Mooney.

Thank you RAY!!!
OMG I was going nuts trying to figure how how this thing works (I had a general idea and it seemed somewhat intuitive...but I was too lazy to look it up, hehe).

Now the 2 questions that come to mind:

  1. Does the Carenado version operate with fidelity....or are some things not working, or funky in their behavior?
  2. Think I already know the answer to this one...but is there any way to map the knobs to keys or otherwise find a method to adjust them in a bouncing plane without accidentally hitting the FPS knob for 1000s vs 100s and sending the plane into a 2-3000 fpm dive because the plane bounced a bit?

There is an IOS/Android tablet app about to be introduced that is airplane specific (say $5 / plane) that has all the switches and sliders etc so you can flip switches, move sliders, change freq, altitudes, VS etc while the aircraft is bouncing around.  AirManager might also be a way to do this.

Most everything works in the Mooney except a music switch in the upper right of the panel and the JDI engine gauge - it is for show only.  This is a limitation of MSFS not Carenado or the instrument.

The ALT SEL work great once you get the hang of it. Look at the little panel for FT or fpm for a hint. If you can click on the right hand inner knob the panel will show what is selected.  If you screw up and start down rather than up, jump over to the AP and click ALT hold to instantly stop a descent or climb

The easy way is to PreSelect an Altitude when on the ground, say 5500 feet. After you power up the AP press the ARM button on the ALT SEL  (lower of the two buttons) and you will start an instant climb at 500 fpm and it will level off at 5500 ft and go into ALT Hold on the AP.  You can change the VS rate at any time by turning the knob left or right.

An update for the Mooney is in work.  Let's see what they fixed or missed then I can tell you about the fidelity.  This could easily be my GOTO SEL complex plane.  There are a couple of twins on the way from other devs that might outshine this one. JWAS

Thanks Ray...will try out and let you know.  I've already had to do "click the ALT button to stop this crazy thing" ...as it seems that the ^ ˅ arrows inexplicably flip when i grab the knob and throw the aircraft into a direction I was not expecting it to go (very disorienting).  I "think" its because I'm in a 500 FPM (lets say) climb.....go to grab the 100's knob...inadvertently grab the 1000s knob and a single rotational "click" on my center mouse wheel in the wrong direction (my fault) will put the plane into a instantaneous 500 FPM dive.  I would think that when you're in the mode where you're adjusting the vertical velocity, the 1000s knob would be disabled, hehe.  Unless you need to go down really fast!!! 🤣

Good info and I've done that successfully....its when I get impatient at that poultry 500 FPM climb in this hotrod and want to dial it up that I get in trouble. 🙂

Ron....can I tell you that you gained a ton of street cred with me using that word (not that you were looking for it, nor did you not already have it with your painting prowess (another of my favorite words))  (LOL....my 3rd grade English teacher would be rolling in her grave if she sawl me use that sentence structure) 🤣

Hehe....one of my favorite words when used correctly in a sentence. 🙂

Speaking of repaints (not that we were...but conversation always gravitates to that when we painters get tired of flying default paints)....in case you didn't know and wanted to dabble (if you haven't already)....

LJMJKs.jpg

The LIV2_ALB.PNG.DDS file controls the 3 main colors of the items I show above.  It literally takes a few secs to change the paintjob to your favorite color combo with this one file.

Of course, you take risks modifying the original files (so it goes without saying you make backups before you dabble)....and I haven't yet put the time in to make my own files to go into the Community folder as a additional paint, so I won't be releasing anything until I have to the time to work that all out.  But wanted to give you a heads up in case you didn't know this tidbit about the paints in MSFS (and the default planes have this as well).   If you're ok with the stipes in their current config and just looking to spice up the colors...this is the way to do it.  Extremely fast and easy. 🙂

Carenado tells me that they have fixed the zig zagging autopilot.

Dang it....just as I was used to getting a little more of the world to look at when she took me 10 degrees on either side of my straight line!

Actually, I was getting good at getting the heading bug and DTK course matched exactly before hitting Nav...for what's its worth, made me pay more attention to the flight as opposed to daydreaming and admiring the scenery. 🙂

You must center-click the center of the concentric tuning knob first in order to enter the mode and adjust VS.  Struggled until I accidently did the click as I was bouncing around and struggling with the mouse pointer.  We badly need larger more visible click spots and mouse cursors.  It may be due to screen res in use.  If so they need to auto-adjust to maintain relative size.  I am at 1440 and having no joy, especially with tuning and selecting avionics.  Tired of inadvertently zooming instead.  I would also love to see the ability to tune knobs with the left and right mouse buttons, like with RXP gauges.

Humm.  Perhaps working with RXP is the solution....

Makes me say many swear words. Same in Xplane. I know the mouse zoom can be disabled. The problem I see is the head tilt during turns. Can that be disabled?
