I’m glad you posted this op. It was the first thing I noticed today after updating. I thought maybe I was imagining the fact that everything looked a lot more sparse than usual until you were right up on it. Frames were the same though so I’m not sure why they would intentionally do it.

You know...I so wish that I didn't feel a reason to post...I was such a RAH RAH RAH,  vocalist with impending RTM, ..that I had some people on another site...well...gagging.....

I am so incredibly let down, and disappointed with what the Devs have done to the RTM release, in downgraded visuals, and the reduced (by internal code) control by the individual user to adjust them to his or her liking.  Not as they have amply displayed,----a  'Genghis Khan Approach', by robbing the System Owner of that ability,  within the patch coding.

Maybe it’s a French thing, Ubisoft does it all the time, but usually it’s done between promotions and release rather than after release!

although there is Hope, Hello Games really turned around their No Mans Sky game after downgrading and not delivering what they had promoted. So there are examples of things being really bad at the beginning only to turn to gold in 4 years time.

I'm bummed they removed the ability to change time/weather from the the dropdown control menu--that was very useful feature that I was using regularly when needed

I've seen this before the patch but only with flights that were loaded from a previous save.

This is my big concern reading about these LOD issues, that somehow Asobo is reducing it in order to meet some performance metrics for Xbox.

I've been saying since day one nothing good can come to the PC version from the XBOX release... I don't care how many new simmers it will attract argument!

They cant have the PC version look a lot better than the XBOX version!

It's bad marketing for the XBOX release!

You are probably in multiplayer mode, where the button doesn't show up.

It still works in multiplayer, at least for me. I think where you lose it is when you are in a group.

The person hosting the group chooses the weather.

That might have some kernel of sense as an explanation, if they didn't have such LODs at all to begin with.  The fact that they did, and patches have pulled it back (for whatever reason), would have nothing to do with an Xbox version.

The Xbox is just a fixed spec PC, essentially.  Once they find optimal visual settings for it, those settings are locked.  That would have no bearing on what they let people set the PC version to.  The work is already done, and we've all seen it.

My guess is that this culling of the LOD is either a) an inadvertent oversight in post-release optimization, or b) a result of being too aggressive in making sure people can't configure the sim into a non-performant state.  If the previous LOD settings worked fine for lots of people, I'm going to lean towards it simply being an oversight.

Just make a support thread on the official forum, and/or try to get in a question about it during the Q&A tomorrow.

please remember that is 'theoretical' speeds,

what you actually get delivered may be a different matter!

Is this being a flight related website a reason why people might tend to think more they are in an airport and feel the need to announce their departure..?

You have no clue about the numerous games already on both platforms, right..?

The big thing seems to be announcing the departure, and then remaining in the pattern...

Out of curiosity, what are your tree and Anisotropic Filtering settings?

Lol the truth is in the camera lens!

I mean, if the comparison shot meant to shame the sim is an actual aviation photo, the sim can’t be that bad...

It works if you select "All Players". If you select "Live Players" you don't have the button, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong.
