And people really need to stop with the "he's only getting a PPL so jetliners will suck" stuff. No one cared if Bill Gates had a pilot's license when MS bought FS from subLOGIC. Because the head of the company isn't doing 100% of the work, and maybe, just maybe, they'll hang out with real jetliner pilots and aero-e's to work on them instead of asking the PPL guy. October 2, 20205 yr I think he actually received his certification several months ago, and he announced it on Twitter. Or maybe that was something else but similar. It was mentioned, back during the Global Preview event I think, that several Asobo developers started taking up aviation lessons after Microsoft assigned them with this project. They are doing their best to make this simulator the best it can be. Some of the responses in here are disgusting.
October 2, 20205 yr I would think people here who are all self-professed aviation enthusiasts based on our hobby would be a little more respectful of people who want to get their PPL....

October 2, 20205 yr This explains why the light GA aircraft work relatively well. The autopilots will be fixed after he gets his IFR rating and the airliners after he gets his ATP rating. October 2, 20205 yr Author Folks, don't forget that aviation is a history of a passion. I posted myself some negative views about MSFS on its website (mostly about live weather issues). But I think it's not without consequences that simflight conceptors share this passion too. See Austin Meyer, founder of x-plane. No need to discuss further : this post was only for information. Just buy Info-Pilote if you can read it in french ! (I wanted to share this article with you, but we cannot insert files in Aviasim...). October 2, 20205 yr I think it's great. Good for him. It shows passion for aviation, guts and determination to become a pilot. How can that, in any way, be bad? Recall that the main dude at A2A is a pilot. His passion for aviation has brought us a number of great A2A aircraft and soon a Aerostar model. That is just awesome. If you don't like the way Asobo is doing things, maybe you should write your own simulator and show us how it's done. I get frustrated too, but seriously, the bile hurled at these guys is disgusting. October 2, 20205 yr Not too sure what the excitement is, this is news from 26 may 2020, where he got his theoretical PPL, thats the sitting exams, not the practical flights & solo. I'm sure there are a lot of PPL's & CPL's around here as well. So, as CEO of a gaming company that has released about 16 games, including a driving game, would a specialised driving course make his companies games any better? Real flying does not make software coding any better.. Old news. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

As do people who have had shooting lessons make super realistic combat games? Really? a new PPL & super realistic complex aircraft. Nope.not going to happen. He's not an average Joe. He has decades of experience in game development and comes from an engineering background. So, yes, he can make sophisticated sims because of that. October 2, 20205 yr One thing of note about the possible impact however slight is from an interview a few weeks ago where he told the story of flying out of his club's airport then later went into the simulator, took off from the same airport and noticed the trees were taller in the sim which sparked a whole discussion about the species of trees and how they grow to different heights dependent on location etc.. The more flightsim devs that have real world ppl's the better in my opinion. It couldn't hurt anyway.

That wasn't against Wloch. It just made me giggle how some peeps are cheering about a guy making his PPL like that is a thing curing cancer. Like trumpists hailing Donny for taking a dump without craping his pantts. And BTW: I had a an glider license for over 12 years, if some random word not allowed waved his about MY license I would be ashamed.
