Carenado aircraft fixes - update

It would be SWELL if the XPDR worked on Vatsim, in addition to the other little issues... Still a great GA aircraft... would like it to be SUPERB!  Still amazes me that developers choose FB as their communication medium rather than their own website or a dedicated FS page like AvSim.

I've been making some waves on their FB page. Let's see if it works. 😀

It seems that we have a good core of users passionate about the new version of flightsim....basically having the same feeling when jumping back into a previous version, regardless of how many payware addons they have for it.

I think that once you've spent a considerable amount of time in MSFS and have acclimated to its look, nuances and feel...going back to other sims is way more painful than if you're a dedicated previous version'er who spent a few hours in MSFS, sorely missed whatever it has that we don't yet (let's be brutally honest here...they have good 3rd party GPS gear and airliners), and went back to your comfort, despite agreeing that the scenery, atmospherics and default GA aircraft are way better here.

It's kinda ironic that the previous version'ers can thank us for encouraging Carenado to try to squeeze the last bit of revenue out of the previous versions before their announcement that any new complex planes from them will be MSFS only (unless their dev methodology heavily relies on porting, and they have down pat with little effort to move a plane from P3d to MSFS).

We'll see what the future holds.

EDIT: I would have loved to see their week 1 sales of the 182 in MSFS....would venture to bet it outsold every initial release of all their previous versions 100 fold.

I guess I could ask here, instead of making a new topic:

Is the Carenado Cessna 182T just as good as the Mooney? In terms of accurate representation, flight dynamics and such?
The reason I love the Mooney so much is that it's fun to fly, it's relatively speedy, it's high FPS / low lag and it's a "steam gauge" cockpit. I love flying VOR to VOR with it.

Or is the 182T just a slightly larger and more powerful 172?

More powerful and higher cruise speed without a doubt, but not really much bigger.

I have it and really like it.  I cannot vouch for the flight dynamics accuracy but it handles nicely.

I initially complained about the different engine sound.  It was toned down a bit in an update. From watching videos, I have since found out this turbo version does sound quite different from the C172, and it is not far off actually.

I like the Mooney better as I love the cockpit, but there is nothing too shabby with the C182. As you would expect from Carenado, the external model is superb.

Oh, and the doors open. I nearly fell out once! 😁

Only want to add, on my 27" 4K monitor a "steam gauges"  better readable and easy for my eyes compare to the thin and small digits at the PFD/MFD screens.

They are both broken at present... The Mooney will crash MSFS if you dare to push the heading or altitude buttons, and the C182's autopilot is unstable and will put you into a spin.

Carenado has yet to prove that they can release a solid airplane for MSFS.

Makes very sad reading. Shame on them.

I keep hoping they will use their timing advantage, and FIX these aeroplanes.  That would go a LONG way in improving their current reputation as just eye candy developers. It's sad, as they do produce BEAUTIFUL models... that are mostly sub par.  The Mooney looked like it would break this mold, but if it remains in it's current state- then we just have the usual SNAFU.

I also keep hoping that they will start using this channel to communicate with their customers, rather than just relying on FB.

That said, the funny thing is that I'm generally NOT an optimist...

=😁

it actually little bigger although not significantly enough to spot it outside. Although you can feel it in the cockpit right away

Thanks! Maybe I'll give it a go. I just wish they would fix them a bit quicker!

I'm having the same issue really, I like the classic gauges better for readability. I use TrackIR and I find myself leaning all the way in to try to read all the buttons and numbers in the G1000 / G3000 displays. They seem to have become a little more blurry over the last couple of updates too.

Yeah I had a CTD on short final in the Mooney after daring to left-click the altitude knob. It had worked earlier in the flight when clicking it to go from Altitude to VS, but when it was in VS and I wanted it to go to Altitude again, instant CTD. But other than that the Mooney works fine for me at the moment.
I didn't know about the C182T issue, I thought Carenado said it was working fine now. Hmm. I understand that there will be issues with a new simulator that is still changing with every patch, but Carenado needs to be quicker with their fixes. It took them two weeks to "fix" the Mooney, and they really didn't do anything. They just waited for Asobo to patch the sim again.

The broken autopilot report might have been a one off. It seems to work fine.

I agree they need to fix the click spots for people (I use a saitek panel myself so I am not really affected luckily).

I would also like them to fix the transponders for people who need to use them in vatsim, and my personal wish is for an illuminated overhead light switch panel in the Mooney. 🙂

Yeah the transponders need to be fixed. I think I remember some aircraft in FSX would have an issue where you would have to squawk mode C and click Ident in VPilot because the cockpit one didn't work. Maybe that was Carenado too. Anyway, it should be relatively easy to fix.

Then  you also deal with the fuel pump switch that doesn't work the switch on the dash. Leave the logitech fuel pump switch on and you'll hear the fuel pump run for a second every time you operate another switch on the panel (checking the magnetos, operating a light, etc.).

And you can't activate the fuel pump using FSUIPC standard event offsets either (for programmable hardware)  😞
