First no access to the sim and now CTDs. Are they ever going to get this right? They need to fix this NOW!

I wish I could have your confidence in MS / Asobo Psolk!    Unfortunately, we were told there would be a fix for the December terrain spikes within 'a matter of days' - we are still waiting.  Unless maybe they meant about 45 days!

And before anyone mentions the modders spike fix by mappamundi, firstly it should be up to Asobo to fix, and secondly, it contains thousands of .cgl files, so I am not sure where we stand with that now.

I dare say we will soon get the the crowd arrive with the 'moaning' and 'throw your teddy out the pram' comments (I wouldn't want to buy any products or services from them by the way if that is the way they think), but unless we show our displeasure at this, they will think we are tolerant to it.  Lack of progress is one thing, but this is really tedious and unprofessional with one thing broken after another.  They can't just blame Bing data either, as it is the way the sim is handling it that is causing problems.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

So you deploy changes in a production corporate environment mid-week when end users could be impacted?  Sounds like your dev-ops guys are lazy.  I've been doing this for 30 years for the largest companies in the world and have never seen a change applied mid week unless it was an emergency fix.  Otherwise scheduled downtime on a Friday or Saturday so you have a weekend day without end user impact to back out if anything goes wrong.

As for MSFS being the opposite as you already mentioned, if this push was made by the Bing Team it makes total sense MS has a change window on a Friday night, if it were Asobo perhaps they had to align to MS's change window.  There could be a lot of variables at play, not worth getting all upset I'm sure it will be resolved, just an inconvenience.

Sure I get it and our DevOps are not lazy and we have our own reasons to to deploy mid week.

Anyway back to MSFS, if they are working on it as we speak, I would expect an official statement says that they are actively working on it to put out the flames with angry users (like myself). Mistakes happen, if they just assure us with some statement, we will appreciate that.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB DDR5 6000MHZ RAM, RX7900XT, FreeSync 165hz 1440p display

One of the biggest drawbacks of this streaming stuff: the user is 100% depending on the servers and the data downloaded from there. Something goes wrong, little the user can do. Sure not the last time, hopefully they fix this asap...

AGree, but at least they have outlined how to fly (for now) and not have the issue, so whilst it might not be the super-dupa VFR we all love, at least it's not a "nobody can fly at all" issue right now.

Sometimes they are too busy trying to "fix" the issue to "put out the flames with angry users"

A pilot flies the plane in an emergency first, then updates the passengers, a Dev team having an issue is probably more focused on the issue itself and will post mortem and advise the user base once they have a fix.  As you yourself mentioned, if this change was pushed from the MS side tied to Bing, Asobo may be at their mercy right now, who knows...  Point is it's been 12 hours since it broke AND it may have helped them get to an RCA on the larger CTD issue which would be great.  I haven't had any but I'm sure those who have would love the issue resolved.

That's fine Graham, but it's not just that.  Nobody was expecting an update until Tuesday.  From reading on the official forum, people have been wasting hours reinstalling things and trying to trace the problem before it became apparent on the forums that it wasn't them, it was MSFS / Bing.

I wasn't expecting a Windows update to blue screen my machine either but yep, that happened to thousands of people this week and it caused a lot more heartache, time lost and frustration than Flight Sim not working.  Perspective is everything...  I guess it's not MS's week for SW pushes LOL.

Not disputing that at all, but we all know  (I hope) that things change on the server in the background.. this has been apparent before, and like others, I suddenly had an issue with an add-on airport yesterday evening my time.  Having never had the issue before, it was odd,  however common sense said.. hmmm  server update issue?  So I just waited.

I am seriously NOT going to re-install MSFS2020 unless it's a complete disk crash or similar..  If I do, it'll be overnight while I am sleeping:)

I am not saying it's not a problem, just that it has been acknowledged and theres a temp fix:)

Well there were definitely SOME game changes yesterday as the Aerolite 103 suddenly appeared in the marketplace as an addon aircraft.

You guys missing another point there, if we assume this change that was pushed by the bing team that was actually intended for the Thursday upgrade, then we are in trouble, because the cycle of updates breaking the sim are still going and need to be rectified.

For those who say it is not so critical, well sorry I don't agree with that, the point is, if we are still in this cycle, updates are still breaking the sim after many warnings and complains, I see that as worrying point for myself at least.

Oh dear, it's not been a good week for MS/Asobo has it !? 😄

I just hope it gets fixed ASAP, imagine they release the World Update on Tuesday with thousands of community made mods and marketplace items still causing CTDs...if hell hadn't of broken loose already it will then!

Not the solution we're looking for but keep in mind you can run the sim totally offline if you've setup the xbox app to do so. At least applicable to the MS Store version, not sure about Steam.

Well if it will bring with it some stupid issues, then let them delayed 😄. I would rather have a functioning sim rather than broken one. I am starting to get nervous whenever there is an update on the horizon lol. You know folks, we gotta nag in the next Dev Q&A about the urgent need for the beta testing track, not only for the sim but also for the online services as well like Bing, Meteorblue, flightaware .. etc

I agree, they need to sort the numerous issues before deploying any further " Nice Scenary" There is no point having a nice enviroment to fly in when you CTD every few flights, or the  aircraft failing to carryout simple AP functioning..

AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d, MSI X570 Pro, 32 gb DDR4 3600 ram, Gigabyte 6800 16gb GPU, 1x 2tb Samsung  NvMe , 1x 2tb Sabrent NvME, 1x Crucial 4tb Nvme M2 Drive

I’m not certain the CTDs are limited to 3p add ons. On Wed and Thurs, I set up flights in the A320NX from KJFK to KSFO, and both times I got CTDs mid-flight.

That’s never happened to me, and those are both Asobo airports (I disabled my 3p airports/scenery since I wasn’t using them).

Is it possible there’s another bug or it’s just the Bing data itself?
