Just the mod.  Keep the other for reference.

For those asking where to find the flight_model.cfg, it will be in the main folder for each aircraft.You will have the primary folder for the specific airplane, then inside that  will be a SimObjects folder. Inside that will be an Airplanes folder. Inside that will be what I am calling the main folder, and it will be named different for each different aircraft type.

The flight_model.cfg file can be edited with any text editor. Be sure to MAKE A BACKUP COPY first. Looking at the TBM for instance, the lift_coef_flaps line in line number 148. you may also choose to scroll way down to the bottom to find the FLAPS section and look for the Lift_Scalar. Cut either of the values by half. Then save the file.

After the next update comes out, go back, delete the existing file, and replace it with the backup that you made first. That will return the values to default so that they are ready for the update.

NOTE: If you are using the aircraft modifications, look in the mod for the file first! The mods version of the flight_model.cfg file will override the default file. The folder structure in the mod will be the same as outlined above.

Your talent is a gift from God. How you use your talent is your gift back to God.

Good to know, thank you. I had quit using flaps in the Caravan because of the sudden altitude changes.

Would be great if everyone could post here what aircraft they are modifying with this workaround. I know the TBM, Icon and Caravan are affected. Which other aircraft can benefit from this? Seems there are conflicting reports about C172 being affected.

Yes I know I can try for myself but given the time it takes to load and flight check each aircraft, this would make things easier for everyone. Especially given we might be waiting almost a month for the proper fix in Sim Update 3.

I'm not entirely sure why Asobo can't issue a hotfix if they know what the problem is. Surely it wouldn't take them long to do and test it before releasing the hotfix.

Clearly there are larger issues with code branches and merges.

If you're using the mod, change it in the mods folder.

Happy with MSFS 🙂

I guess because it's part of a bigger thing and somehow it slipped into this build. Probably too much mess to fiddle around to rollback that step alone - better to introduce the whole thing at once.

For the unmodded  TBM930 it means  to set

lift_coef_flaps = 1.03210  to 0.51605   in the  [AERODYNAMICS] section

lift_scalar = 1.64  to 0.82     in the [FLAPS.0] section

??

Shouldn't there be an "or" in between lines 2 & 3?

I have changed both, and could perform a smooth landing approach with 90-86 kts (full flaps) with nose slightly up, landing with 84 knots with just a bit of flare necessary. I cannot judge how realistic this was because I came back to MSFS only some weeks ago and flying the TBM9300 just for one week before the new update arrived. But for me this is now close to what I experienced just before the MSFS update.

@ Mods

Please, combine the two threads about the flight model issues?

At least I now know what a 737 MAX would fly like if it had split flaps which went down as far as they do on a Spitfire or a DC-3.

Rather than tweak the config files, I've just altered my callouts to my virtual co-pilot, so that I can request 'flaps 90' for comedy effect. I want to see if he gets in a flap about it, trying to get that MCAS system to command full up trim to stop us coming at the runway like a Junkers 87 over Dover in 1940. 🤣

Yet again the community fix in a short time what Asobo broke and refuse to Hotfix, such a shame that Asobo are so well out of their depth with this Sim.

Yeah, because nobody ever had to tweak the config files of FSX, P3D, XPlane etc. They were always perfect and never had any patches or tweaks applied to them ever, they just call them stuff like P3D version 5.1 and XPlane 11.50 for a laugh.

Wouldn't know never got into those titles, I'm just commenting on consistent poorly released Updates that break something new time & time again, very very simple things at that. They clearly have issues with their Testing & Release work, you cannot deny that.
