That video you posted is in a jet at FL300 ? Im not a fan of the seasons stuff but ill buy it just for the LOD fix. "if it does truly work". I have the Winter Tree version (payware version from mid Feb) and trees only go out several miles with an obvious cutoff and popping in of trees. The free Tree/veg mod had trees much further out with no discernable popping even at high altitudes. If your latest version fixes that then please show a proper video up higher and maybe in an area without mountains since they obscure the scenery further out. Here is a video you requested. After further testing, I am noticing different places has better LOD than others after the update. This video is LOD 200, but with 300 or 400 by tweaking UserCfg.opt file, it gets better. I am also noticing winter season is giving me less tree LOD than summer. It may be the type of trees used... Still investigating... Is it setup where I have the option to only use the LOD fix without replacing all the trees in my sim? Also when adjusting LOD do I need to change settings in the sim to get it to work (LOD set for 200)? Usually there is a performance hit in doing this especially with glass cockpits. I will likely pick up your updated mod once MS/Asobo can fix the horrific FPS/stuttering issues they introduced in this version as the sim is unflyable for me right now. I think the winter trees might make the LOD more obvious due to the the brown trees contrasting with the bright green photoscenery. .. I was getting great frame rates in the Alpha test with much better scenery and less pop-in. Maybe it's better on Xbox, maybe it's for VR, and in some way the performance isn't improved on a standard 2D monitor? Who knows? Only Asobo knows. The more paranoid would say that, most probably, the new Xbox cannot handle big draw distances, so they are nerfing the PC version to match what the final XBox version will be like 😄 That is however highly unlikely. The truth is probably that, in typical MS fashion. one hand does not know what the other is doing. MS has had a rep for assigning developers randomly to a new smallish team working on one small part of a large project and then, once they are no longer needed, randomly moving them to a new team working on some other totally unrelated task sometimes on another project altogether. Some team working on close details at low level has probably nerfed draw distance for some random reason, without having a clue on the overall effect that has on views from a higher altitude. March 11, 20215 yr Yeah I did two test flights post patch, with Bijan's fix.. Anchorage Alaska has awful LOD, and buildings and trees just disappear in a line a few kilometers around the plane at any altitude. Palma de Mallorca seemed fine though. Will they ever actually be able to understand what affects LOD in their title? Edited March 11, 20215 yr by Langeveldt

There is a lot of talk on the formal MSFS forums about the tree LOD issue. I was quite surprised that they are letting it rumble on without closing down threads, as some of the comments aren't very complimentary! Anyway, the theory above is talked about, because people are trying to understand why Asobo have done this. So the theory goes that they aren't too happy with people forcing the LOD in that way, as it isn't supposed to be done like that, and also, the Xbox will not be able to use mods like the PC versions. So as they don't want YouTube videos showing the differences (and how much better the PC version is), they have now hard locked the LOD in the core sim code - which appears to be exactly what has happened. If that is the reason, who knows, but without an acknowledgement of the issues and a statement why, this is what happens. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).
