Best Resolution for MSFS

Featured Replies

I've been running in 4k resolution in MSFS for sometime and rarely dropped below 35FPS but then went down to QHD and now rarely go below 60FPS where I have the sim locked.  It still looks exceptional but was wondering what others prefer.  My screen is a 43" Samsung flat panel.

Cheers

1440 seems to be sweet spot

And some of us are quite happily flying with 1080p.. sweet or not 😉

It’s 4K for me... and has been for years...just can’t go back. YMMV.

Waiting for it in VR before I take that plunge.

Thanks everyone.  I'll try 1440 for a while because 4k eats almost all of my vram (8gig) and 1440 hangs around 70%.

55” quantum led tv, 4K. Running 80% slider in msfs. 2070 super. Been unable, like most of us, to get my hands on a better gpu for less than the price of a crappy used car.

55", 4k, slider at 70% or 80%, 2060 Super. On my side it gives about the same performance as 1440 at 100%, but it looks nicer.

4K on a 2080 8gb ram.. Usually holds around 30 FPS but dives into the teens at places like NYC and London.

1440 usually looks too pixilated for me to enjoy with jaggy edges noticeable

4k on a 50in TV. 1440p just turns into a Vaseline covered presentation

I run 4K 30 fps locked.   You guys running less than 4K...aren't things like gauges not as crisp at the lower resolutions?   I tried 1440p (wanting a 60 lock) and I had to go back to 4K.  Is that just my monitor (it's native res is 4K) or am I missing some setting to keep things sharp at lower resolutions?

The best resolution is always the native one. If your 3060 Ti struggles at 4K you can turn down the resolution scale in sim settings, the result will always be better than the TV interpolation.

There is no real reason to keep 30% of your VRAM unused. If there are no stutters, why wouldn't you want to use the full amount of VRAM?

I'm on 4k with a 2070 on a 27" screen.
