How does the WXR being inop stop you from flying?

For me, the issue is that I have a number of planes with the Milviz WX radar integrated into the panel, which means I'll permanently have a large inop gauge in all these planes if the decision is to not update the WX radar.

I will add that, at this time, we are no longer developing for P3D except as it pertains to milsim projects.

Does this mean there won't be any new projects from Milviz for P3D?

Same here. Unfortunately, the MilViz planes are now uninstalled due to this. I am not TOO broken up, because they will come for MSFS. Just another developer to hop off P3D, nothing new. JustFlight and Aerosoft in the same boat, we will likely see others follow. That's just reality. I have accepted that P3D is now hanging on the thread of existing aircraft. Once those begin to fall off (by either stopping to function properly due to updates or by being available for MSFS), they simply get uninstalled. At some point that number will grow and there will no longer be a reason to keep P3D installed altogether unless LM makes a breakthrough tech announcement for v6.

We will, at this time, no longer be making products for P3D with one possible exception that’s under discussion now…

If LM comes out with something amazing, we will reconsider this.

Completely understood. It just is what it is at this point. It's time to move on, I think.

I am also suspecting (just a feeling, not based on any info) that the sales for P-180 have been less than encouraging to continue putting out new stuff for the platform.

We sold less than 100 units of the EVO.  P3D is dead in the water unless LM seriously ups their game.

We’re only doing MilSim in P3D and those do not go out to consumers…. If we could use MSFS for MilSim… we would but we can’t because there’s no weapons, no commercial license for end users and it’s impossible to do close formation flying without vanishing….

I enjoy the EVO. I may not have purchased it if I knew what I know now but it is a great and unique aircraft. Still missing the 310 in V5 though....

That can't come as much of a shock after all the marketing missteps surrounding the P-180 EVO.

The Milviz Piaggio 180 EVO is a fairly niche airplane to start with, and the add-on showed up out of the blue on the Milviz web page as a P3D v4/v5 product with no preannouncement, with a sale price of $39.99 and a very odd up-front disclaimer that it was a partially-finished product and would not be developed further.  Then a few days later it mysteriously disappeared from the Milviz product page for the better part of a month without a peep from you guys in response to community inquiries as to what the heck was going on.  Then it shows back up again, this time as a v5-only product, priced 50% higher at $59.99, and now a few months after release the radar gauge incorporated into its panel is rendered useless.

Even absent the turmoil of the hobby's shifting tides, the P-180 EVO wouldn't be expected to be setting sales records given all that.

It's really sad, Milviz did not port over their fantastic planes, like the Beaver, the Turbo Otter and the PC-6 to v5. I certainly paid a reasonable price for this port over. I still like the Talon and fly it from time to time in v5. I got it once for FSX and could fly it till now in P3D5 with one paid upgrade. But the experience with the other planes, the story about the P-180, just give me the feeling to no longer buy products from them. Also, that software today is never finished takes part in this decision. If there's no longer support and the will to refine a product, why should I buy a beta product? So I don't wonder, why this didn't pay out. I thought about buying the P-180 but as described by Bob, that was the perfect way to refuse potential customers.

You know... there's many Milviz planes I'd like to put my $$ into,

Here's a list,

  • PC-6
  • DHC-3T Turbo Otter
  • DHC-3 Otter
  • P-38 Red Bull
  • F-86F-30 Sabre
  • Plus any of the helicopters

Oh wait, there's only 4 planes listed as P3D v5 compatible on the Milviz website, of which none are the above.

Cannot sell what you've not got for sale...

I question how you're going to do when MSFS forced updates breaks the Milviz MSFS planes, just leave em like has occured for P3D ?

Sorry, that's my reason for not spending money with Milviz.

Ryzen 5800X clocked to 4.7 Ghz (SMT off), 32 GB ram, Samsung 1 x 1 TB NVMe 970, 2 x 1 TB SSD 850 Pro raided, Asus Tuf 3080Ti

P3D 4.5.14, Orbx Global, Vector and more, lotsa planes too.

@Milviz There is unfortunately more than a kernel of truth in the above, like it or not.  What I can for me is that the KA350 is an excellent airplane and I'm glad I bought it for v5.  The PC6 can be ported to work acceptably (although not fully through MVAMS) in v5, even though its not designed to, and I love this airplane too.  The skyraider for v5 seems ok on first glance, but I havent had much of a chance to seriously test it.  Other than that, what can I do really?  The Evo isn't on my list of go-to aircraft regardless of the marketing aspect...

I'd be seriously considering some of the helis, and definitely the C130J, (which has been in the works since at least 2017), if it's not been binned?
