July 29, 20214 yr Hmm, this practice of not allowing a true max is not really common at all, not sure what games you are referring to. For instance, RDR 2 would kill peoples machines after release then they patched it, but they didn't really mod the sliders much they just optimized the game itself (without reducing graphics quality). Cannot think of too many games that take the approach you are speaking of. More common than not is that hardware has become so "beefy" that people just expect their hardware to run at 60+ FPS on max at any game, and that is true to an extent, but it's not always the reality. I don't know of any AAA games that intentionally made it impossible to max the settings out to prevent the whinos from having their cake, maybe a few, but cannot think of any off the top of my head. I can still make XPLANE come to a crawl with certain settings, they removed some sliders because of Vulkan changes, and others because there were just too many. I never heard they removed them because some people were setting things too high, that's a new one to me. Edited July 29, 20214 yr by Alpine Scenery AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram

He is talking about development of scenery and the conversion of existing airports in MSFS for this update and future development. Seriously, you need to actually read and not guess. This thread is about performance not scenery or sdk. Start another thread about that and stay on topic
July 29, 20214 yr The 737 will be fine. Glass cockpit are working 100% better in Su5. It's the steam gauges that got the shaft . https://fsprocedures.com Your home for all flight simulator related checklist.

But, the custom camera views I use have not changed - they all use a specific zoom level. Definitely no difference at all from SU4. Just curious; in your opinion and based on what you have seen in the developer's forums, does your statement above apply to aircraft development to the same degree that it does to scenery development? Can you explain to me why Robert from PMDG is aware of this texture problem in the DC6 cockpit is trying to get Asobo to tell him how to fix it, but you don't see it?
July 29, 20214 yr Can't help wondering how much calmer things had been if Asobo have been proactive in taking about the changes they wanted to make to improve performance on the PC and the trade-offs involved.
July 29, 20214 yr Commercial Member Right time to put things on perspective here. LODs culling haven't changed at all for the PC version, this is confirmed by ASOBO here: https://devsupport.flightsimulator.com/questions/1417/small-objects-disappear-on-long-distance.html I quote: As you can appreciate LODs culling algorithms remain the same for the PC version, and they have been implemented more aggressive for XBOX... therefore it is important to see the intention here, ASOBO is not making both platforms to behave the same, they understand people on PCs want to see better graphics. There are 2 things happening here, 1 is LODs enforcement which on PC remain the same as before the SU5 update. And textures being cut our of the scene when you are not looking (what people call pop in / out), which it seems it has been implemented for both versions PC / Xbox. I asked Asobo more information on that link to understand what changed. On that basis, I think people are seeing degradation on their VCs due to other reasons, not LOD culling. So perhaps with few tweaks on their settings things will return to what they used to see before.@Alpine Scenery I understand what you are saying, I totally get why and how much you are frustrated.. But I learned long time ago (the hard way) this is not the space to express development frustrations, technology limitations, or even development criticism for the base platform. Simply put most people will not be able to understand your point of view because as customers they are, they can only judge by the results they can see and they can measure right now. Better to put your energy somewhere else, chill and come back re-charged later when you can provide solutions that you are happy with. If you need someone to talk about your frustrations and that would be able to understand you, send me a PM and I will be more than happy to listen to you, maybe even able to help you with some of your issues. July 29, 20214 yr They may not have changed LOD culling specifically, or their definition of LOD culling, but they did change the renderer. Above post not fully accurate, it is a response to a specific issue and is using wordplay. They also didn't "change the broken terrain files" in that update, that's not the first time I've seen wordology used. As far as not the right place to voice concerns, who made you moderator? I think as many people voice concerns, I can too, thank you for your offer, but I will wait until the next patch, not a sadomasochist. Maybe, just maybe, some bugs do not affect everybody? Why would we be lying about that? I am sorry that my DC-6 still looks perfect, if it calms you down, my FBW A32NX doesn't load consistently, so there is that. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord.
