I did a test flight with DC-6 yesterday. I didn't experience blurry textures. I DID experience the same performance as before SU5 though.

Same here..

The same observation. Textures are the same for me, only the performance that is not improved as the original OP has mentioned.

Therefore I have been explained this is not the case, Asobo is implementing different LODs rendering techniques for Xbox vs PC, they left the PC LOD rendering / culling same as prior to the SU5 for the PC version, which means any rendering degradation they see for the PC version, is not because 3rd party developers hasn't implemented all LODs as required or because the back engine is now culling LODs more aggressively.

There is also a confusion with objects disappearing from the view when you do not look at them, and being re-rendered when you look at them again. This is new to SU5 for both platforms, once again this is not related to 3rd party developers LODs (3d model configuration) for their add-on's.

Right, talking about two separate things entirely. I pretty much mostly agree with that from what i know, though I'm not going to trust the official info 100% on this right off the bat as many issues are in this version of their code base for the sheer fact of the huge amount of changes they made in one update. I don't get why they felt the need to change this much stuff in one update, this looks like 5 updates combined into one.

I am pretty much assuming they made underlying changes to the renderer so they don't have to support 2 separate code blocks, which is evident in the weird detail loss in varying situations like the grass and auto-gen, now that is my assumption. I do not know that for a fact, for all I know all 3 of the PC's I have here are just big piles of junk and it's a giant lightning strikes 3 times coincidence.

Just for the record: I'm using Process Lasso as well, always active before, during and after the update. No issues. Maybe it's not PL as such but a certain setting?

Kind regards, Michael

Could be Michael.  WIth my settings in PL it absolutely failed to update, and worse than that when I uinstalled MSFS (for the first time ever) and went to reinstall it would CTD.  In fact, I uninstalled PL, all aspects of it, terminated it, but did not reboot.  I was on the line w/ MS Support to try to solve the immediate CTD that occured before the Xbox splash screen appears, then I realized I needed to reboot.  Once I rebooted and launched MSFS it commenced the update normally while I was on the phone to politely bowed out of the support need.  Still haven't run it yet though been busy w/ other things.  I noticed last evening it did get to the Welcome Screen so should be good to go, though quite frankly I'm a bit fearful of what I might see, or not see!

I think everyone needs to chill there is no doubt in my mind Asobo will retune the sim for Win 10.  It's very plausible to see them fully focused on Xbox until recently as this was their timeline based agenda.  Now that that is largely over I it makes perfect sense they will work on optimizing the PC form of MSFS.

They have implemented new LOD stuff for the stock PC models and it's pretty darned jarring.

Colours and textures are also different between LOD levels now so a trip around an airport can be quite a psychedelic experience as everything morphs and changes in front of you.

I'm not sure how that got out the door because their existing LOD models for things like aircraft are immaculate.

Is that what that is? I was always wondering about that, thanks for the info!

Same for simmarket https://vendor.simmarket.com/register.php

I think also other vendors would have more or less similar cut

Thank you --- Yes, this is exactly what i was trying to say, but somehow it turned into a let's throw rocks and stones at the dev guy and turn the discussion into an argument about one specific thing they didn't change. OK so maybe they didn't change certain things about certain custom LOD's (which I never claimed they did AFIK, maybe by accident), but they sure as heck made LOD changes overall in some areas.

I cannot subscribe to your POV in this scenario, in the main "developer forum" where all the developers go, I have never seen so many issues being posted in such a short timeframe. The developers are a pretty important part of the community. No-one is happy with this update, it's not like a few people, it's pretty much everyone.

They should have added 3 additional sliders and just reset them to a place where people could gain FPS. They should have tested the launch with the SDK before breaking everyone's airports, the level of frustration is off the charts right now. I had already sidelined many projects due to issues 2 updates ago, I came back hoping to finish up, but now I've sidelined them again to a non-determinate timeframe (When they fix this stuff). The autogen is pretty much a blurry mess at this point, this isn't a minor step back in graphics or someone imagining things, this looks like a totally different graphics engine rendering things in some respects. That said, people sitting farther back or on smaller monitors or with worse vision are not going to notice it nearly as much. This is why some are claiming they don't see much difference, but someone with good vision on a large screen, it's really obvious.

I'm VERY happy with this update.  I have almost doubled my performance.  And it looks better too!!

That's great, I wish I also lived in a right to smoke state (I'm only teasing you)...

Looks like there was a lot of outcry during the beta regarding the lods and visibility & occlusion culling. Perhaps it was way too aggressive? Asobo decided to dial it back a bit and hence lowered the peformance.

True, fair enough. The joke was because the other guy also noticed the weird psychedelic effects to some of the airport LODs, so I just figured if you thought it improved, maybe (oh nm --- it was way out there)... Even I wouldn't have gotten the joke if i had told it to myself.

I'm thinking maybe they left in the Debug code?

Dude you're sharing a picture that has been compressed by Discord, this is useless to show whether or not your cockpit is fine.
