As before, we skipped intros, videos, music, etc. to shorten the time of launch. Now this "Safe Mod" check is not for me. I know many simmers think like that, as well. Generally I quit the sim by closing the window which was easy and fast for me. (Never close the sim originally via Main Menu > Quit to Desktop.) And now, my old way of closing the sim seems to be an error or CTD to the MSFS and shows up the "Safe Mod" warning on every start. Safe Mod warning is good but somehow, we would like it, to be ignored or it can be shown for a few seconds or so, and continue with Normal Mod, if Safe is not clicked. Or can be an option in the settings that we can enable or disable. I do not know how t can be for the best usage but I would be more than happy if a solution can be found. What do you think ? Maybe a voting can be launched for this later. Thanks. If people are back to now complaining about "click to continue" I think Asobo are in a decent spot to be honest. Please close the sim using the appropriate way provided. Or expect to see the error state. I really don't think this is too much to ask. Alternatively people are sick and tired of complaining about all the pre-existing problems that never seem to be address + all the new ones from SU5 that need resolving and being ignorred by MS/Asobo. Like the poster ho you quoted said, the sim has to do its tidying up and there are virtual drives that the sim creates which has to be shut down also It is a fact that, many times, helping hands - in good faith - also tend to jump to conclusion and point the user to what they honestly believe is the right way of doing things... even though that may not be the issue. However, in this very case this is clearly a bug even though you close the sim the right way (i.e. quit to desktop), you may be confronted with this message over and over again when starting MSFS, for no reason. I had this too, never used the "safe mode" and completed all my flights with no issue. The solution offered above by another user to go to "DEV mode" > "save the settings", and "quit to desktop" is the solution out of this situation. End of story and unpleasant remarks. I will try to get back into the habit of shutting the sim down properly and see if that fixes the issue. LOL it's like turning off the PC from the PSU switch and complaining because Windows restarts with the troubleshooting menu. I close the sim from the main menu and NEVER see the safe mode button. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber

If the sim is closed the right way you wont get that safe mode popup at the next start. I've had 2 ctd and both times I saw the popup and I havent seen it since
September 9, 20214 yr Here is a suggestion: Instead of arguing amongst yourselves, spend the time writing a suggestion to Asobo that they modify the simulator so that clicking on the X prompts the question, do you want to close the simulator, as FSX and P3D do. This would prevent the immediate closure that presently takes place and presumably satisfy those who believe that it should never be closed in that way. For the record, it makes no difference which way I close it or that I have applied the fix, the message persists. It really is not a problem. Edited September 9, 20214 yr by Reader

September 9, 20214 yr I literally am exiting the game in the forum-defined 'proper' way. But I'm getting the message in question on start-up, regardless. It's only started happening with the latest update, never once before. There's something strange going on somewhere. Whether that's Asobo's fault or one of my add-ons (they're only scenery-related), I don't know yet.
September 9, 20214 yr Moderator I'm locking this. 4 pages of bandying around about best way to exit a program and no new suggestions. Asobo has a "proper" way to close the program. There are also alternatives. Use the designated method or accept the consequences. Seems simple to me. Old joke - "Told my Doctor, it hurts when I do this" - Doctor said 'Don't do that".
