October 29, 20214 yr Now, with my current SU6 with a stuffed to the gills Community Folder, I click on the icon, go down, and make 8 cups of coffee...start bacon and eggs, eat...then swing down for a shower...towel off, put on my duds, pour my first cup of coffee, open the fridge, take out the package of Danish....head to the Den...and just about 10 seconds later...the welcome screen shows up on the monitor. So, my MSFS 'start' M.O. is working out really well now... Ses! Edited October 29, 20214 yr by Sesquashtoo
October 29, 20214 yr 3 minutes, 25 seconds very modest computer: Rhyzen 3600 cpu at 3.6 Gz community 27.7GB official .....196.9 GB I am using the Steam Fast Launch option, i.e. does not show the BlackShark, MS, or Asobo splash intro videos. Fast launch can be chosen for any Steam game. STEAM, LIBRARY, MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR, MANAGE (SHIP'S WHEEL ICON), PROPERTIES, GENERAL, LAUNCH OPTIONS, -FastLaunch in other words type -FastLaunch in that box. Xbox store version: I saw an Avsim message showing the modifier you add at the end of Flightsimulator.exe file in its shortcut box, probably the same modifier -FastLaunch You know its done right when you no longer see BlackShark video, etc. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. October 29, 20214 yr 3:01 loading off a 1TB Samsung EVO SSD. Almost got under the 3 minute mark! Content Manager indicates 98.44GB used but I'm not sure if that's the Community Folder size in total. 32GB RAM, i7-4790K CPU, original system build was back in 2015, but the RAM, storage and GPU have been upgraded since (sometimes more than once). Mind you, hadn't actually used it for a couple of decades. /digression-exit Haven't measured my startup times, but feels about 3-4 minutes usually. I've just ordered a 4tb WD Black NVMe addin-card, supposedly good for around 6,500 Mb/sec read xfrs so I will definitely do before and after testing when that arrives.
