Especially with aircraft that often had a three man crew including flight engineer, but I wouldn't mind a virtual co-pilot for newer aircraft as well. It helps a lot getting started with an aircraft and flying any airliner alone isn't realistic anyway. Actually, the Connie had a crew of 5 ((Pilot, Copilot, Navigator, Flight Engineer, Radio Operator). 🙂
November 9, 20214 yr I bought it. It seems like a pretty complete aircraft as it is even with WIP still. https://fsprocedures.com Your home for all flight simulator related checklist.

Also she hand flew very well this time, not sure what the problem was the first flight, still finding it difficult to trim her but they may be down to me. All in all reasonably satisfied at this moment. I have not tried the navigation system out yet, will do a longer flight later on today. Given the fact that the creator of the Redwing Connie's promotional video's thought potentional buyer's must surely be more interested in bombastic music intead of the model's engine and cockpits sounds ( what was he thinking ??.... cover them up because of lacking quality maybe ??...), what do you think of the soundsuite, Scimiter ?.... Thanks! Jan

Thanks! The engines sound fantastic, I have not took to much notice of the other sounds. I have been to busy trying to work the systems out, it still needs a lot of work, if they make it as complex as they say they are going to, it will need a flight engineer, which I think is in the pipeline, It is also all steam gauges, there appears to be no modern navigation systems are onboard. The AP works okay once you work out how to operate it, the ILS did catch the glide path for awhile but started to lose it as I got nearer the Airport, but that again is a work in progress. November 9, 20214 yr I share the same sentiments as a lot of other people. The DC-6 is all I need in this category, especially if this is what their offering: a half-baked addon that is wildly overpriced. Sadly, we're seeing a lot of this stuff coming out. Luckily, we other people in our community releasing addons that are payware quality for free! This is absurd.
November 9, 20214 yr Aww man I'm sad to see that it's not worth the money. Aesthetically I like the Connie WAY better than the DC-6, but it sounds like PMDG's offering is far superior. Maybe in a few months it'll be more worthwhile! Former Child, Current Adult

November 9, 20214 yr I'm tempted buy half baked products always raise concerns. Sometimes developer takes years to finish product. I'm not familiar with Red Wings, so I'm not sure when stage two will come. I would consider AI FE as priority for initial release. I would live with not all system implemented, but frantically running between flight engineer station to pilot station is not definition of realism for me! I agree, people are sticking wings and a tail on a fuselage and calling it a $50 aircraft.. But, their are people that will buy stuff like that, so that is what their business relies on.

Man that sound fabulous. I love old planes. The DC-6 from PMDG is perhaps a masterpiece but they put modern stuff into it which meant I did like, mainly the radios. The original kit was present in the cockpit, but inoperative. In other words, everybody has their own likes and dislikes, a different idea about what is important to them. I have been watching with way more interest the progress of the Connie and the smaller, and not so old historically, Just Flight Fokker 28, both are probable purchases for me. The Fokker is from the 1970's and has vintage radios and "authentic gauges and navigational equipment, including RMI (VOR/ADF) and HSI". And "a custom-coded autopilot". And the pre-release pictures all look fabulous. November 9, 20214 yr I need to spend more time and learn the aircraft before I can comment whether it's worth the price of admission. I look classic aircraft so I am sucker for them so I bought it knowing there is still work in progress. As far as I know, it's fully flyable aircraft in its current state.
