Since the first day of release everyone was looking for add ons. The only exception perhaps was  line of product from Orbx that involved  satellite imagery. 

Why not use MSFS Addons linker to fastlaunch all your additional programs in order first, then it auto launches the sim....with just one click?

Check it out In options....then additional options tab.

There are some good youtube guides for this essential program. Its amazing when you set it all up properly following the guides.

The OP is absolutely right.

In the months before the release, there were several posters regularly rejoicing that the new sim would be the end of  addons and the demise of the « greedy » developers. I often called out these stupid and malevolent predictions. I note that most of these posters have disappeared from the forums (or they changed their forum name 🤣...).

There were also a couple of others repeating that no addon, specially complex aircraft, would be possible for years because of the programming environment. They are still here but seem to have come back to a more balanced view. Reality rules.

I also find the OP right and reminding our requests from the developer is fair.

Before and during the release, the trailers and ads were showing a sim covering many features, nearly a complete sim. But after the release, we faced that the mentioned features are not well developed , yet.

If  MS/Asobo completes the development of weather, ai traffic, atc, simconnect, map, native flight planner and few essential ones; the sim will be a complete sim for most of us. And, will probably not need such addons. Of course, addons will be required for more realism and fun but they will be optional. Therefore, the topic will be better understood, after these are completed to a proper working level.

When MS talked about community Add-On Market in their first Q&A, they mentioned Aircrafts, Airports and maybe highly enhanced regional sceneries, and that’s it. They never intended to open Weather, ATC or Traffic to the SDK as they always communicated this as core of the platform.

And I liked the approach to enhance these feature over time and not having to deal with trillions of mods that can address such functionalities only have baken. The limitations of the Traffic SDK are endless and the community will never be satisfied.

Another example is something like FSRealistic. It just should not be required. I expect the modern simulation to come with a realistic camera system for head movements in all kind of situation.

Still waiting for Asobo to include all ground markings, parking positions and spawning locations for the premium handcrafted airports….

No offense but I do not think they are imaginations.They are; what MS/Asobo showed us during the trailers and ads. Just willing to have them completed to a certain working level that we will not require comlementary addons.

Wow, this thread has turned into quite the little dumpster fire. There were absolutely people jumping to the conclusion that MSFS would cover most things default and it would be ‘RIP Orbx’ and ‘RIP Rex’ etc. 

Maybe they were an exaggerating, mildly delusional minority but they were certainly there. This ‘nobody wants to hear your trolling’ stuff at Ian is frankly bizarre.

@gb09f. Either you were not here between June 2019 and August 2020 or you have a short memory ... or you were one of them 🤣 ?

It should be fair, talking / asking  about a developer for the completeness / responsibilities of what they showed. This forum is for users / simmers / customers that share goods and bads of the product. Some are defending MS/Asobo more than the developers  themselves.

If the essential features such as weather, ai traffic, atc, simconnect, map, native flight planner and etc. wouldn't be the part of the core sim, why did they advertised these and showed these as their default...These features could not be shown and we can naturaly expect these from 3D party to be developed. As they are advertised and we bought the product with these expectations; requesting them to develope it to a certain working level is not an imagination or trolling.

Of course, if some of us would like to spend their money to addons for improving the same feature or adding new features, they are free.

I love that MSFS is such a good base and developers create so many wonderful addons. Just from this thread I learned about FS Realistic and just bought it!
