November 28, 20214 yr Sick of stutters, I decided to turn off photogrammetry in MSFS. The bad...I lost the bespoke recreations of various cities. The good?? I seem to have lost the stutters that plagued me with photogrammetry...and the ground in boundary areas matches now...I think I...like it?? More good? Using Orbx or freeware city POI add ons I can have the best of both worlds...POI bespoke downtowns for Seattle and Vancouver and LA and San Diego with silky smooth performance in jets. Seems mostly good...and easier than trying to get P3Dv4 and XP11 to run smoothly. Your experiences?? Now...how do I undertake creating my own POIs for key landmarks....?? Flying without photogrammetry is a good way to get a solid flying experience. At some time, you may want to turn it back on, to experience some of the better photo cities.. but for now, enjoy your smooth flight! The MS servers have shown signs of stress lately.. hopefully, that will improve.. Bert

November 28, 20214 yr It has been requested to make photogrammetry load in a separate thread and not block the main thread. That would solve the issues with micro stutters before takeoff. http://youtube.com/c/Greazer
November 28, 20214 yr Regarding the servers - the photogrammetry for the area I fly frequently (on east cost of aus) improved when SU7 released. The coastal buildings and rock formations are now much more accurately represented and detailed. It was a nice surprise. Sadly the bing data is still about 5 years out of date

November 28, 20214 yr I did the same and would surely opt for it if it wasn't the case that indeed in my rig and network connection I actually experience pretty much no deggradation from enabling photogrammetry, but on the prvious rig, an i5 2500 CPU, it did make a difference ! I only plan to revisit MFS when the glider tittle is released, meanwhile I'll keep playing another widely known tittle, and ELITE XTS where photogrammetry are absent for sure, but I still have enough detail for the kind of flying I play - airline. Rather than turn PG off, you may find it better to tone down a few of your graphics settings. My sim runs fine at the old LOD max of 200, but using Google Maps, I get a lot more detail in LOD 400 and that gives me a few stutters ( though for me, a fair trade off). Oddly, I didn't notice a big difference using the higher LOD with Bing Maps though. IMHO It's better flying with PG on, considering the visual experience, even with the current server issues being suffered by the MS servers, mostly after the Xbox release back in end July. Bit off topic, my apologies for that. Just a simple question. Should I set VSync to on with a Nvidia GTX1060 videocard and a 60Hz monitor? Thanks. November 28, 20214 yr I have to turn photogrammetry off due to low bandwidth. Works fine with Bing data on though, and as smooth as silk. I have a fast processor, plenty of fast RAM, and a 3080Ti, so in my case, it is not a computer related problem, simply me not being able to stream the data quick enough. If it does load, it looks 'melted' due to this, and I would rather not see it. So for me it is one for the future when my super-duper 1Gbs ultra fast fibre connection is put in - they inform me it is 12 weeks away - been like that for 2 years! With locked at 30 FPS looks way smoother to me.
