the production lines are still working and so are the shipping/distribution channels.

So with Asobo they all go away for over two weeks because there are no producers (coding/testing) or distributors (those who tee up updates)?  They are all just "corporate" staff.  Management and administrators?

Foe those of you complaining about working on Christmas, get a new job.

what kind of adult complains about when others have to or don’t have to work?

if you want a different life, then do what you need to do to earn it.

FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠

Oh well, I guess I‘ll have to join the Beta then.   I haven‘t done so yet because I‘ve been running into quite a lot of probelms with the sim lately and didn‘t want to tempt fate. Now I guess I‘ll have to take the plunge. I agree not mentioning the hotfix is a bit weak. It‘s been such a hot topic for a month now and many people expected a release before Chrismtmas. I’m sure they deserve and need their holidays but how can you remain silent about that? That’s hard to understand.

As an Oriental the new year is two months to come, Happy New Year to you all and happy holidays.

No complain here, just some viewpoint on my own. They should make more properly BETA before adding new feature like the Live METAR, it's the point of what BETA really means rather than the so called Hotfix or Fix BETA, clouds under ground is no big deal but 200 Celsius degrees in the air is seriously broken, it will results in the market side while people don't have much time or passion to find out what's going on. By contrast the WT G1000 Nxi is more steady on the developing, something missing is more acceptable than something wrong.

Further more, the PMDG DC-6 on the Xbox is such a shame, i think it's the microcosm of all the problems. It hurts both customers and developers, as an result to impact the market, and that is bad.

And Top Wishes is not a good idea, it's just not.

I read it as the community team who put the development updates together are starting their holidays before the next development update would be due, not the whole of Microsoft and Asobo are on holiday from today

Me too.

Also, employers legally have to give a certain number of days of holidays to their employees per civil year. We are approaching the end of the year so people have to exhaust their rights to vacation. I don’t do politics here, any business works in a legal framework. You like it or not, it is the law. And not only in France.

Then, I sympathize with those who cannot play at all the sim. But I suspect that SU7 is not the only cause then. With my underwhelming computer I can play it all right. I don’t like the tainted weather that the Metar-hungry crowd has loudly  demanded to Asobo and which came with this SU7, but the sim is playable. Sometimes I have to change my spawning location when there is no weather or there are those horrible clouds roaming the ground but it basically works for me.

Now, you have got to admire, once more, a totally off-the-ground PR statement that avoids the main worry of this community to focus on an « incredible » and « fantastic » copy of their rather bland ad material (sorry, artwork) 🤣

LOL sorry but i found funny those politically correct kind of sentences, if i dont complete or do my job right my boss doesn't give me a slack, and i already worked in holidays, weekends and nights...so many times! Of course they need a break, as we all need, but they also need to have there costumers happy for a product that already as one year and still as basic problems... not releasing the hotfix to fix problems that themselves introduce in the last update and going on a vacation before, is mocking with their costumers, of course in my huge humble opinion.

Well, does it work? yes, with some non-breaking bugs. Do you have a workaround for it now? Yes, you can join beta. So let's get over this drama of "oh they are leaving for holidays and with broken sim".

Well if your boss doesn't give you a slack because you didn't do your job right, then I am pretty sure you have an abusive working conditions apparently. And also, it's their legal rights to take the holidays, period.

Well what a disappointment of a communication.  It's a bit barren considering such a large team.  They must spend all of two minutes updating the feedback snapshots.

Most of the time has gone into the marketplace updates, a lot of which are just padding - night lighting for a city at $9.99 a pop?  Are they joking?  Orbx do the full London for less than that, but I thought we bought the sim for the free in-built spectacular night lighting - strange. (Yes - I know they are not Asobo's)

I am happy running the public beta, but there are plenty of people out there waiting for some kind of news or update on the upcoming patch / beta, and it looks like they might not get it this side of the holiday now.

'Our Team will now be taking a short break until the new year' - Wow - how much holiday do they get?  That will be three weeks until the next one.  It's the 17th now -  I have to work until about noon on the 24th, and I bet a lot of people do.

Such a pity.  A wet flannel of a communication and the progress is painfully slow.  What are these '200' people doing?  It just doesn't add up.

I agree that Asobo seem to be on holiday very early, at the risk of being hypocritical as I've been off work since last week, but I've had no summer holidays and yes I've worked all through the pandemic, I have to go into work for a few days over the holidays for essential stuff, but I'm being well paid for it, so why can't Asobo go in and get the update up to an Hotfix 1 state and issue a Hotfix 2 after the holidays.

Yes I'm in the Beta but some simmers are reluctant to use the Beta, and that's fine and understandable.

Define work and BETA. The job is to make money by this very product, the product is to make money by satisfaction and reputation, and the positive feedback loop. You can purchase as many copy as you want to appreciate the developer, but i will leave it if things still messed up in the future.

I love this sim, but depends.

How does it work with the Beta then

if I join and download do I have to re-install afterwards - or does one just make a backup of the official folder and copy it back afterwards?

I'm on Steam, too. You opt in for betas via a setting for the game (right-hand mouse click on the game and select Properties or similar [I use the German language version]). That's it. If you want to leave it, just opt out via the same setting (didn't try the latter but this is as it usually works with Steam).

Independent of this, I always have a full backup of my complete MSFS installation on a mechanical drive.

Kind regards.

Totally agree on what highlighted, the sim is rock stable.

Also, with the beta hotfix and nVidia driver 496.76 is much more than playable.

I would say that it's in its most enjoyable status since release. Performance, stability, graphics quality restored with the original color depth, weather still to be improved (sometimes winds change abruptly, no overcast) but certainly credible and beautiful to look at...

Once they finish to work on the weather, remove the white dot and fix the approach flyback bug, personally I will be 100% happy with it.

And the future is bright with further world updates, DX12 developing with new features, quality payware aircraft...

2022 will see 6 WU and 6 SU, it could be the year of the breakthrough which will bring MSFS to full maturity.

Let's stay positive! 🙂

A little old fashioned aren't you ? Not that I say this in a derogatory manner, mind you, rather a compliment 😉.

Is it an element that MS cares much about ?

This product has been sold not on an user hearsay about quality but thanks to a massive marketing campaign engineered by one of the largest world provider of advertising money, including by buying the favors of reviewers.

Common wisdom says that the bulk of the Microsoft sales for this product is also in for major traditional markets. The law of diminishing returns. And, by the way, each customer using the product is now a cost (streaming) for Microsoft. Except when it triggers a subscription to the Game Pass. MS has been remarkably shy on the issue of the Xbox version (number and type of sales).

I am not a big fan of common wisdom though as it doesn't say it all. There are known unknowns.  An interesting issue would be the yield of the next World Updates in terms of new sales : the announced ones Australia, and (more or less announced) Brazil and the unannounced but possible ones China, SE Asia, Eastern Europe. I really wonder what the Chinese market may mean for a product like MSFS. I suppose that again they will do massive advertisement campaigns  wherever they choose to do their WU.

Very old fashioned i am. Sans la liberté de blâmer, il n'est point d'éloge flatteur, i don't know how to say it in English. The marginal cost is pretty low to maintain the market, the same as the Windows.

Speaking of the Chinese market, Microsoft Flight Simulator is not exist in China, neither on the Steam nor the MS Store. If luckily enough you can purchased one, you still need an extra cost to access the Internet to use it, for me it's around 300 US dollars per year. A WU for this land? forget it.
