Most likely no Hotfix this year

It may have been explained many times before but if I opt into the beta (Steam) does it install a second copy of the sim or just update your existing install?

Just asking as a full install takes about 8 hours for me.

I agree that was nonsense, especially as they have said SU8 will be bug fixing.

I'm not sure what you're agreeing with as I can't see it....

Yes SU8 will hopefully be Bug Fixing, but IMO there needs to be more than just that especially if SU9 then reverts back to what SU5 & 7 were, that will be the proof in the pudding as to whether any lessons are being learnt as up to this point they are clearly not. Until then this Beta process is yet another example of flawed management, it may not be so obvious to you or others, but to people like me who've been around this business long enough we can see the cracks long before they become crevasses.

To reiterate, I love this Sim, I want to see it grow and evolve as I love spending time in it. But I do not bury my head in the sand and pretend everything is A OK when IMO it is clearly not.

It's just a ~600 MB update.

Just a small update to the sim - about 300Mb I seem to remember.  Another poster said uninstalling the beta was just as simple - click on the current version and you can have broken weather again in a couple of minutes 😁

I was hesitant to jump into the hotfix beta but I’m glad I did, no issues here.

I have asked how you opt in to the Beta - but I'm still unclear on the process

can you explain pls - step by step would be great 🙂

Steam user also btw

If you beat the dead horse, it will not be more or less dead. I understand the people are afraid to jump on the beta train in worst case to reinstall the whole load on Gigs. It's simple statistics: 90% from who installed the Beta had no problems,

Enjoying the flights without the most weird bugs. Happy discussion!

Surely they just have to press 'go' on the full release of the beta?

Technically the fix does exist, it's just sat in testing in the form of the open beta.

Although, I agree with OP that I do not want to be a beta tester so I also decided not to install as I'd have no desire to spend time providing feedback.

And how about the procedure for the MS Store version also?

90% had no problems.  Where did that statistic come from ( link would be good)

If I may, that they have learned their lesson or not is not relevant 😉. They have not and  will not because there is no lesson for them to learn. Observing the last 16 months,  their plan seems to maintain a sale momentum through tightly spaced releases of updates and gamey DLC which they know cannot be but buggy. Another way of saying is that the bugs are an accepted collateral damage.

You do not need to spend anytime giving feedback if you do not want to, just fly 🙂

from observing the feedback on the flightsimulator forum. For most of the participiants the named and introduced bugs have gone (like low clouds, et al.)

And having been a beta tester going back many years, it isn't just a matter of getting the beta and flying around in your favorite aircraft on autopilot. You have to vary aircraft, weather conditions, controllers, and report any small hiccup you see, which requires taking many notes. It's no fun.
