Most likely no Hotfix this year

Featured Replies

To me it seems fairly obvious that with the Holidays starting in only a day or two from now, that Asobo is not going to issue fixes for things they broke with SU7 until sometime next year. I dread what will happen with SU8 when they drop that on us. Obvious to me  that they are no hurry at all to rectify problems they create with these updates. Terrible way to treat your customers.

Just opt into the beta and have fun flying in more stable skies with less UI weirdness

Noting keeping you from joining the public beta except you.

What happens to the installation when you opt out of the beta?

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base & hegykc MFG Crosswind modded pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S for VR

I can also not see a Public update being released to fix the game breaking issues that have plagued some users for near 5 weeks now, whilst the obvious answer is "just join the beta" this is not easily advisable for many or indeed all users. MS/Asobo have shot themselves firmly in the foot with their stance on this Beta, it's apparent they've run into huge issues (most likely with the weather) but questions have to remain as to why this has prevented those aforementioned areas getting the Hotfix they so desperately needed to release in the first place. Time after time evidence of poor structural management and decision making is plaguing this Sim, the lack of Quality Control is absurd, the communication is appalling, the list goes one.....endlessly!

16months have passed since the main release, errors and mistakes are still not being dealt with in a timely manner and they are - worryingly - not being learnt from. They've clearly dived into the deep end and are struggling to swim, they need to get out the pool, take stock of everything in the New Year and practically "start again", preferably with a capable management team at the helm.

In the meantime I'll continue to play it and enjoy the Sim for what it is, which does actually give me great satisfaction at times.

That is exactly what Asobo wants us all to do. That way they can say they sort of fixed the items they broke, without having to issue a hotfix for everyone. If it cause users to have to reinstall MSFS, then that is the users problem. Thanks but no thanks, they forced the "X Box" update on all of us, and they should  fix the problems they created for all of us, without having us having to  jump through more hoops.

The Apocalypse....(nothing actually, just stay in the Beta until the hotfix goes live, and the game will update only the files that have changed from the Beta)

On Steam, when you select "none" on the Beta menu, a 300 MB download starts immediately (even before clicking OK!*) and MSFS reverts to 1.21.13.0. You are immediately greeted by the color banding in the world map and then low clouds in live weather.

Same procedure to opt in again, a 2 minutes task.

*it was scary! I was just fiddling and I didn't really want to take the risk to reinstall everything 🙂

Don't agree with this, yes there has been mistakes but the sim HAS progressed at a phenomenal rate with 7 sim updates and numerous world updates since release....all for free.  So to say " errors and mistakes are still not being dealt with in a timely manner" is not correct.  Beyond that there has quite a few hotfixes delivered in a timely fashion as well.

I don't blame Asobo for leaving it until after xmas......everyone deserves a break and time spent with loved ones in this crazy world we now live in.

I never mentioned progression nor had I mentioned that it hadn't progressed as IMO that's an entirely different subject altogether, besides that it's very clear that mistakes are not being learnt from. If they had been then how do you explain the game breaking issues in SU7 that were allowed to be released to the public? the lack of Hotfix for those issues which is preventing many people from enjoying the experience they had prior to the update? the severe lack of communication for the Beta and what the hell is going on with it? Where are these lessons being learnt exactly?!

Of course they deserve a holiday, as do many people, but they don't deserve to be patted on the back when they've left the Sim in an unusable state for weeks on end with no end in sight.

Unusable state is very strong, I'm flying everyday!  I'm sure others are as well.

Guess you didn't read what I posted and my reasoning for not using the beta. I do not want to be a beta tester, I did that for years with several products, not interested in it anymore.
