MFS Fly the Maddog MD80: In Beta

Featured Replies

Same here... For the Fenix I can live with the free FBW one... Boeing... okaaaay maybe later but I will wait for the Queen... BAe would be nice but can be a bit later... real Love: Maddog! So for me the race would be the best with Leonardo winning followed by Justflight with the BAe 😄 then MD11... then the fishtank bombers...

Cheers

Everybody around this hobby seems to get far more excited for the PMDG 737.

Think that is partly due to the marketing (and drama) that's been nearly constantly dripfed to us. Clever, if transparent, strategy by RR.

I'm glad to see so many other airliners well into production. This year is going to see a bonanza of aircraft releases. 😊

It's true.  But I think the reason is that the 737 is just more popular in real life.  And a large percentage of simmers seem to prefer flying real equipment matched to real routes.  I however have no problem using whichever plane in my hangar I want.

5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW  and 2  22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU,  360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

I Saw that Landing video. But didn't hear the "Audio/Sound/Aural of coming in to land . Was a tad Disappointed"

Well, the Maddog MD-80 was one of my preferred simulations of the iconic dc-9 / md-8x line of airliners, back in the good fs9 days ...

I had used the Airline Simulator 2 version before that, with deep respect for what Simon Hradecky achieved first with moding the original Airline Simulator tittle by Sublogic, and then creating his own airline simulation platform.

I am really tempted to jump on this one, although it's too complex for me these days to properly manage and operate such an aircraft. I am a lot more at eas in the modern buses 🙂

That's the other part of the reason, yes.

Like you, I also prefer the ease of glass cockpits. That said, there's a certain appeal to the steam gauge driven cockpits of a favourite classic airliner.

Indeed F737NG ! Indeed !!!

I would love to see a Classic 742 or 743 available for MFS, with the level of detail recently made available for XP11 ( Felis 747 ) or airliners that made my youth as a plane spotter at the old Lisbon Airport in the late 70s, early 80s - B707 and B720, B727, Vickers VC-10, IL-62, Trident-Three, BAC 1-11, DC-8, HS 748, Bristol Britannia, the Caravelle !!!

Another feature I would love to see implemented one day in MFS or any other modern flight simulation platform would be "Historic Scenery", like some way of sliding your "date" back to an era where these, and even lder aircraft, were operated, and have scenery, towns, objects, vehicles, airports, ... adapt accordingly 🤩

Hi, is the TDFi MD 11 in Alpha or Beta testing too? I just read they posted the price of their MD 11 for MSFS.  Would be awesome if the TDFi MD 11 is also in Alpha or Beta testing phase.

I can't confirm, but they don't have cockpit screenshot of the MSFS version, only P3D and based on the dev updates they are still working on systems

So maybe early alpha

That's the appeal for me.  Flying something like an airbus is so easy.  I've been getting back into the Q400 lately.  Truly a plane that requires currency.  MD-80 somewhat that way to.  The challenge is what keeps me coming back.

What a pleasant surprise on a Saturday morning to read that the MD80 is in beta and to watch a PMDG preview video...it's a good day!

This has not been expressed clearly in their latest post, but one would reasonably assume that when you are able to articulate a price, it is because your product is near completion and you have all the cost elements under control.

It's still firmly in alpha. They're working on systems and things like cockpit textures still.

I was certain this thread was about the maddog and not every other airplane in development? Guess I misread the title!

I told you guys....there's at least 5 jets coming soon!

Plus the Dash 7, from Pilot's + SWS. Not a jet, but good enough to be mentioned.

Agreed I fell in love with the MD-80 and the Majestic Q400 more than anything else released in FSX. I feel Leonardo is underrated in comparison with PMDG
