FlyTampa CYYZ vs RegDesign CYYZ

Featured Replies

Hey everyone!

I put together a quick video comparing both the FlyTampa CYYZ and RegDesign CYYZ. This will hopefully just give a quick view on what both sceneries look like in the simulator!

Hope this helps!

A few observations from a quick tour of FT CYYZ... Download size: 1.36GB, unpacked size: 2.39GB.

Performance: Excellent! (better than default airports)

It looks very nice both day and night, but I'm missing the Deicing trucks! Something I got a kick out of in the P3D version. Hopeully, theyll find a way to get those in later.

Based on the video FT's version wins easily.

MSFS

You just can't beat those FT textures.

I did buy it today and it looks every bit as good as the P3D version.

I do think they released it prematurely but I don't blame them for that.

Competition is competition.

Intel Core i9-10900K at 5.2GHz, Corsair H115i PRO, ASUS MAXIMUS XII HERO Z490, G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 15-16-16-36, ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3090, SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2 2280 1TB x 3, Corsair HX Series HX1000 Watt PSU, Pimax Crystal LIght.

Bit confused here, Toronto CYYZ - has this just been released by Fly Tampa and also by another group just a few days ago?  Just trying to keep track as this seems very odd, or was it release awhile ago.

Anyone know where to get the FT CYYZ other than their site, I simply dont want to have to make another account (I already have 6 payware sites).

CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB
MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro |  GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K

OrbX and Simmarket sell FlyTampa, could take a few extra days, correction - a few extra minutes at OrbX 😊 -  though.

very nice.

Maybe a dumb question but, why do some people prefer to buy a FlyTampa product from Orbx? Is there a benefit I am not aware of? I always read to buy direct from the dev as they get all the profit vs a third party retailer.

People find it easier to keep everything in one library.

Plus to handle updates. I bought FT sceneries from their website formerly, but sometimes I had to mail them to get a new key etc. which worked but was nasty. Maybe that changed since.

Those days I buy them via ORBX Central where updates are super-easy and usually quickly available.

Kind regards, Michael

Yes, totally agree Michael. Great scenery's, but updates can be hit and miss. You really need to be active on their forums to hear about one if you purchased from their store. Orbx Central (and others like Contrail) make it a lot easier.

Seems like FlyTampa is still king. Can't remember ANY airport in P3D or MSFS that was not top notch.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I can understand this approach, however I personally am willing to do a couple minutes more "work", when I can be sure all the profit goes to the dev.

A higher profit margin might encourage some of them to spend more of their overall workforce on developing good sceneries (probably quitting their full time job if some are developing sceneries just as a hobby and part time job).

FT for the win in my opinion!
