You can guess an upcoming "local legend".

Featured Replies

You can, but I can't, I have no clue.

At about 57:30 of Q&A we hear a discussion where Jorg waves his hands and jumps in to say 'without announcing what the plane is, but we have a local legend that is more than that', referring to number of engines more than 6 or 8. So what local legend is going to have so many engines? I have not a clue what plane could be called a beloved legend in an upcoming WU location with more than 8 engines?

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Does it really have to be associated with an upcoming WU? Or can it be associated with a past WU? I somehow have in mind they once talked about a Dornier flying boat, the Dornier Do X has definitively more than 8 engines 😉

Dornier Do-X would be my guess.

Spruce Goose.... Pffft...🤪

What is it with this question that is so terrible that it triggers all these braindead responses?

Sadly, it can't be the LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin, since that had five engines. So that leaves B-52 Stratofortress, which has eight engines but being a bomber, is an unlikely choice, as is the B-47 Stratojet, which had six engines but is also a bomber, as is the Convair B-36 Peacemaker. The Dornier Do-X, had 12 engines and was just a transport aeroplane, so is a definite possibility, the H4 Hercules, aka the Spruce Goose had eight engines, but it only ever made one flight, so whilst it is a legend, it's not really one because of its flying ability, and it wads intended to be a military transport too. There is the Antonov An-225 Mriya with six engines (recently destroyed in the Ukraine conflict, so that might make it a bit of a touchy subject). Then you have the Saunders-Roe Princess flying boat, with six engines, but it is a bit obscure, and there are a few military prototypes which are also a bit obscure that I'd also discount, many of which are, or would have been warplanes as well, so that probably discounts them too. There is the Scale Composites Roc Stratolauncher, but that too is a bit obscure and its future is also somewhat in doubt.

So I reckon the Dornier Do-X is probably the likely candidate if it isn't the Mriya. There were some Caproni, Antonov and Dornier aeroplanes with eight engines either built or proposed at the time the Do-X was built, but these are not as well-known as the Do-X.

Always kind of liked the Do-X, it looks like something from Steampunk novel, so if it is that, I'd probably buy it just for the looks.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that these DLC aircraft are very buggy.  The Carenado D17S seemed to fair a little better and that one, while basic, is one I'll probably get I think the price is fair.

Did he mean more than 6 or 8?  That’s a lot of engines.

I would like the eight-engine Bristol Brabazon, but I can't say it is classed as a legend unfortunately.

the legendary meanwhile sadly destroyed Antonov

This would be true digital monument to a legendary aircraft. Can't think of a better way to preserve the history.

A PMDG 737 maybe?????

Maybe if you add up all the variants there would be enough engines 😁

who cares

I do. This "who cares" is among the most destructive comments you can write on a forum - because obviously people do care when someone mentions it in a comment. Sometimes I wish there was a button to downvote a reply...
