There is a click spot at the base of the ALT knob to change from 100/1000

So I managed to enable the IGPU setting in my BIOS, which I was surprised it had given the age of my chipset, and switched it over in the Fenix app so that the displays are using the Intel HD graphics rather than my discrete GPU. I'm meant to be working so only had time for a high speed ground run with some sharp turns to test the response of the displays and it does seem to have made a difference. In Task Manager I can see that the loading of CPU, GPU and the Intel GPU are a bit more balanced than they were before. Hopefully later I'll have time for another flight and be able to put it to the test a bit more.

That's quite a nice feature from Fenix if that does prove to be a fix. Although why the displays take that much rendering load in the first place seems a bit weird to me, especially when this doesn't seem to be a problem in other similar aircraft. It's not like they look any higher in detail than the PMDG for example.

Aha, so I have to check my BIOS then later when at home. My setting for intel HD graphic seems to be off now. I will check on that.

It took me a while to find it as it's quite well hidden! If you have an Asus motherboard it is in Advanced > System Agent and then there's an option for IGPU Multi Monitor which you need to enable.

When Windows starts up just give it a few minutes to detect the new device and install the driver. The ones it installed automatically seemed to work fine for me.

Yeah I have an MSI Z170. But I chose in nvidia to use GPU rendering instead of CPU. Perhaps it was already on it seems but I disabled it via PhysX Nvidia option. I check both bios/nvidia gef.exp. for this!!.

So you confirm there is difference now for the screens?

Note: If you have never enabled the onboard GPU before in the BIOS, you will likely have to install drivers for it to work properly, as drivers were likely never installed if the GPU has always been “off” in the BIOS.

Windows may or may not be able to automatically install drivers for the onboard GPU. If not, the best way to get the correct driver would be to visit the support web site of your motherboard manufacturer. They all have a section for “downloads”. You would enter the exact model of your motherboard, and you will be presented with a menu of all available drivers for that model. You would have to enable the GPU first before trying to install the driver.

Try turning on the GPU first, then go to the Windows control panel and check the “device manager” section. If the onboard GPU appears under the “display adapters” section, (along with your primary GPU) you already have drivers installed. If the onboard GPU appears by itself under “other devices” you will need to install the drivers.

Since the update, the click spot has vanished. No way to switch it from 1000 foot increments. I put a ticked in on it.

It's still there - I used it yesterday! Might be your viewpoint meant it was obscured.

It worked before the update, and doesn't anymore. I submitted a ticket.

If it's on you will see an Intel HD Graphics option in addition to your nVidia GPU in the drop down in your Fenix settings app. If there's no Intel option in there then it isn't enabled in your BIOS or the drivers aren't installed.

I did see a difference, but haven't had the chance to use it for long enough yet to confirm positively. It seems to me it's a worthwhile exercise regardless though, as the Intel GPU is just sitting there not doing anything so in any case it takes some load off of your main GPU.

I tried enabling the iGPU, and got it working. However, when running with it enabled, whether the displays were on it or not, my performance tanked. Disabling it again, and having the displays run on my regular GPU got me around 10 FPS back, which meant the difference from 24 (iGPU) FPS to 34 (GPU) FPS.

Same here with my system, which is very similar to yours.

 

I get the best result choosing "Balanced" option and render on the RTX3090.

I always kept my iGPU disabled until I really need it (breakdown of the main GPU e.g.). Reason: I do not only use MSFS on my rig, and for certain games, there are a bunch of potential conflicts having the iGPU active, besides the simple fact that you also need another set of drivers to be installed and maintained, potentially breaking stuff. So no, I will certainly not enable the iGPU for a single MSFS addon, I hope my FPS will be fine without this "trick".

Could also increase heat on your cpu which then might have to decrease performance if overclocked.?
