PMDG 737-900 enters beta

Recommended Posts

Where's the EFB, Simbrief integration, and upgrades to the low-rez jpeg textures? --> Will that be included with the release of the 900 version?

To me a 737 is a 737 , as I only fly in VR I only see the flightdeck so don’t care what’s behind me so got the bargain-600 and very pleased I am too with it especially for the price.

I agree with others , 747 and 777 ASAP …, and where is the 787 ?

It will. The -200ER in P3D was nothing more than a cash grab during the time the add-on market collapsed.

More appropriate pricing and proper use of the latest tech in MSFS will see it sell like hotcakes as one of the earlier long-haul aircraft surely(?)

Back on topic, I don't know how many people are going to be interested in the 737-900. The -700 and -800 are a lot more popular (real world and sim world), the much cheaper -600 scratches the itch for anyone who doesn't care for matching the model (see the number of fictional repaints) and as seen earlier I  this thread, there seems to be some 737 fatigue.

-900 is ubiquitous in the United States, Randazzo's home and a key part of the addon market. It's not as if it's getting designed from scratch - remember the NGXu came out in pretty quick order, and I appreciated that they did all the NG models.

Of course there's 737 fatigue - that can be safely ignored. If they had released the -700 and -800 only and moved right on to the 777, we'd never get a -900, and the 777 would still be 2 years out.

I love PMDG and have the 700/800. I am really excited for the EFB and MAX. I am probably going to pass on the 900/600. I have been waiting for the A/C since FSX/P3D. Happy flying everyone and Happy Holidays/New Year's.

Best Regards,

WC

I mainly fly Delta and United so the 900 is on my list. I also fly Southwest so the Max will also be on my purchase list.

Not really. There's far much more interest in an EFB and a long-haul aircraft from PMDG.

For the rest of us (Indonesia excepted), it's really not that common.

The -700 sold over 1,100
The -800 sold very nearly 5,000

The -900ER managed just 505, the -900 only 52.
For comparison, Ryanair Group's fleet of 409 -800 aircraft is ≈80% the size of the total -900ER fleet.

As last of the available NG variants from PMDG, I again question how popular their 737-900 is going to be.

Meh - recycled stuff. I’ll pass. The 737-700 is fine, 800/900 don’t add anything except weight and some tweaks. Not worth another 60$.

Where’s the EFB and new things that PMDG haven’t done before (i.e. 787?)? I’ll be more excited then.

For now, PMDG aren’t innovating.

They’re continuing to milk their cash cow same product line that released in 2010, 13 years ago. We’ll see the same with the 747, 777 etc.

Personally I wish they would advance to the 747 with hopefully a new updated vc. For some reason the 777 never held any appeal to me. Somehow it seems boring or lacking character. Not interested in the -900 and man things move slowly off the production line at PMDG!

United, Delta, and Alaska all operate extensive -900ER fleets.

The amount of work required to bring a -900ER into the sim versus spending all that time working on the 777 systems is not that much of a time penalty. It's not to say 777 work isn't ongoing in the background - two things can happen at once.

By just cutting the -900 out of the line and leaping at the 777, they would leave their definitive 737NG series unfinished, and you would not see the 777 a day sooner.

So I don't see why any of the "wahhh I want a 777" or EFB clamoring makes much sense right now.

The dev cycles on these airplanes are years long, and by eliminating the 3 months or so of work they've done on the -900, it will make absolutely no difference on the timeline of the WB aircraft they are working on.

I sincerely hope so , but your guess is as good as mine.

I asked this question in the P3D forum and apparently there has been some activity on social media but I’ve heard nothing on any flight sim websites for a long time.

Fingers crossed but if not there’s a large carbon fibre tube shaped hole in the market that desperately needs filling .

I’ll probably get the -900ER since I’m a bit of a completionist but I’m really looking forward to the 777 far more right now.

Delta and United are two of the largest airlines in the world. So it’s still pretty relevant. Not to mention that airlines are upgauging. The 700 was going away even before the max. Just like the a319. I do however agree that I’m not sure it will be a giant seller only because there are now so many other choices and after a while a 737 is a 737
