And I don't see that either with FSHud.

Whoever referred to the Chat program is right. This is going bigtime. Not only for voice dialect recongnition programs. but more to the point for machine learning algorithms

Real world traffic is a temporary confusion.

indeed, i am too ....... but only to see what of the "in-development" features for P3D (comm sectorisation, flow sequencing, ICAO rnav clearances, runway assignment) may be seen in MSFS.

one can see some of those in VATC's exclusive airac.

Bring in on!  The more competition the better.

This is very beta, just to show Vox is real in MSFS, the new interface, and that AIGFP's are already used by Vox to generate controlled traffic.

It's not down to me, there's a little tweaking to do first, reported a couple of issues this morning.  Maybe after FSExpo next week I don't know.  Will depend on a lot of factors.

in P3D (??)  ..... if VATC is its own traffic controller, what's the the need for AIFGP (whose the only use is with AIGTC is for en-route routing which may conflict with the P3D airac)

yes of course, AIGFP's provide the core *.bgl data VATC needs, but surely a ".bgl inventory is sufficient

Models, flight plan imports, so vox can use them...

AFAIK AIG only updates in its own fp format now, so maintaining and updating the fp database would be quite difficult without incorporating the AIG data

With the rise of AI and advancement in speech synthesis in the past months and years, I've heard some amazing natural sounding voices. Even heard text-to-speech clip used for entertainment purposes, sound very plausible. Still find some of these voices sound slightly canned and robotic in comparison but hey, it's still an improvement over some of the awful Microsoft Sam voices I've heard in other ATC software.

 

With Vox, is there a button version, or do you have to use audio to communicate with the program? I don't like flying wearing a headset.

I always fly with a headset 1. because my family members can't stand the noise the sim would make, 2. because of TrackIR's Track Clip Pro and 3. well, if feels kind of realistic and immersive. 😉 I absolutly DO like flying with a headset!

But still, I will never use voice recognition or anything like that because the family would still go crazy. It's simply a no go at my home. Which is why my ATC addon really needs button control. Any ATC addon that doesn't make good use of button control won't be bought by me.

Luckily the dev of B-ATC told me on Discord that B-ATC will offer all kinds of options to control interaction with ATC with keys (or automation... but I refer to be in control).

All good chaps, we each have our own needs and preferences, no one app is going to meet them all.  I chose vox because the use of a headset gives me more realistic sounds, feels more immersive and I want the hands off voice recognition to most closely replicate the physicality of real flying.  Not to mention it controls AI, which means you actually need to listen for situational awareness, and it includes UK vfr procedures no other app does.  But that's just me. 😛
