Fenix A320 (Fifi V2) Current Status Query

Featured Replies

It seems like a high expectation to believe that every piece of feedback or comment a streamer makes on an add on has to be actionable or constructive. It’s not like he was talking directly to Aamir. Simmers making mountains of molehills again.

Indeed, the support ticket proviso is that we will get back to you if we need more info - but otherwise, it's goes into the work tracker, someone checks it out - and if the report is enough, it will be actioned and closed, unfortunately the volume of tickets we are generally unable to give people play-by-plays on the ticket's status, but everything is seen and put in the right place, then prioritised. If more info is needed, as mentioned, we get back to people and go back and forth to try and figure it out. Re Discord, yes, it took a week - my DMs are quite frantic at the best of times, but I did make an effort to get back to you - I see and read everything, and like I said before, you're welcome to throw me a message, it may take a couple of days but I always endeavour to respond, especially if it's something you'd like to work on! 🙂

I did not say any usable feedback, I said that the piece of feedback being clipped is unusable. It's important to make a distinction between subjective and objective issues. The 5 things you mentioned are objective issues. Quantitatively wrong. So we fixed them! 4 out of 5 things you've listed have indeed been fixed, so it is indeed useful to point out, because we do see them on streams, reported in discord, bug reports, etc. But then when it comes to subjective feedback, or qualitative feedback - the sort you delivered in the clip, some more detail is appreciated - we can't quite do much about "word not allowed" and "garbage", but if there are handflying qualities you can pick out that you'd like to see different, we can always have a discussion about it and see where we get. Like I said before, Emi, my discord DMs are open and you know where to find them, throw me over some of your findings, and if you're game, drop me a message and I'd be happy to send you over the latest beta with the new FM in it, we're in a refinement phase now, and it's a good time to get some constructive critique in!

I'll be happy to accept your offer Aamir, let's settle the dispute at this point as there's no sense going forward with any of this in public.
You'll have my PM over the course of the evening.

Psh that’s not the AVSIM way. We’re supposed to go 50 pages of arguing before admins start suspending users and lock the thread.

So refreshing to see a 3rd party developer conduct its development, business, and interactions with the community in the manner that Fenix does. More of this please!

Yes, he's pumping out the videos at an astonishing rate. But they are so, so dull.

It's a £50 home sim for heavens sake! And the Fenix is £50! Both suit me just fine. Why on earth a real life robot pilot wishes to come home from work and then pretends he's back at work on his PC I find utterly incomprehensible!

Don't take this the wrong way my friend, but if we didn't have pilots like Emi who came home from work and simmed, we'd have no study level aircraft to play with. People like Emi (and Aamir) are the entire reason we have our PMDG's and FBW's.

Also, there are a lot of airliner jobs with huge breaks between flying, not to mention most pilots got into the business because they love airplanes as a passion. Of course it would be a part of their free time.

I wouldn't denigrate RW pilots who sim. Most simmers would still sim if they got hired with Delta today.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

Also, Emi's 737 videos are really, really good.

To be fair, my comment was about all the real world pilots busking on YouTube.

What I do, when I fly an aircraft that I don't enjoy flying anymore, I just park it in the hangar, and fly something else.

Fair.

One thing that came out of this discussion here, and on Discord, is I have a cleared idea of what issues I have with the Fenix are user-generated, and which ones are Fenix issues resolved in v2.

I know when I fly the Fenix now, I am accepting the chance that I hit a v2-fixed issue. The gotcha is, the FBW still lags behind significantly and I enjoy an Airbus flow more than the 737. The 737 has crept up on flight time though recently.

I do not denigrate RW pilots who sim. I worry about those who do not understand that a PC sim is for fun and is not intended for them to pretend that they are back at work.

In my case, I will use the sim before heading to recurrent in order to practice certain scenarios that we will encounter in the sim (FSS), and not being practiced on the line.

In other cases, I've known pilots to use pc sims to familiarize with a new aircraft,  and learn FMS, practice flows and so on. I've seen pilot coming to ground school and mastering FMS labs in no time because they used PC sims at home (where others struggled).

PC Sims have come a long way and with devs like Fenix, FSL, PMDG and others, we have good options.

Really not sure about what's going on here. Back when Emi had no experience on an Airbus he thought the Fenix was great (just like us), now that he has experience on a real Airbus (simulator-only for now, I guess?) he found out that manual flight isn't good/realistic at all. He was obviously disappointed, having hoped to use the Fenix for training at home and doing streams while doing it. His wording was inappropriate, but if you watch his videos you'll find he swears a lot about anything (from Asobo to GSX...). It might be a german thing, in german we swear a lot with a lot of fecal words (I once read that german is the only language that has more swear words that relate to fecal things than to sexual things... in other languages it's the other way around...), so I guess he's just trying to be "casual".
You'll very often sense he's still more a hobby simmer than a professional streamer, because a professional streamer obviously wouldn't talk like this about products he might want to have for free from the devs 🙂 Actually I like this about him, this makes him very authentic, even though I don't always agree with him (e.g. I love GSX, he just hates it to death because he's unable to properly use it).

V1 Simulations take on all this. A bit of humour

Really what kind of streamer does such a video to put it on youtube? My 4 year old isn't as childish as that.

word not allowed if people can't take jokes then maybe they should not watch. Not to go into another debate but likewise to other streamers doing things.....
