Sorry for my "Again" joke. I was having trouble with the Beta. But it's working fine now. All good so far...

Much to my surprise, I suffered a tremendous hit to performance after installing the new beta this evening. My overall FPS was unaffected, but I got frequent, recurring stutters. I have good hardware and never experienced these pronounced stutters since getting my new computer in February. I had flown a flight yesterday with outstanding performance. But when I loaded up the new beta tonight, the problem started instantly. There were no other changes to my system or settings. The stutters were so bad that I decided to leave the beta. When I did so, the performance problem immediately went away. Anyone else getting a big performance hit with the new beta?

Resources have to be allocated to the new project and pretty much i think this platforms feature set is now locked in. I really hope however they work on doing some large bug squashing. I really need Asobo to stop the bleeding (of textures) in DX12 mode. That's pretty much my only major gripe.

I had hoped for better memory management in DX12 as well.

When I fired up the beta, I lost about half my frames in DX12 and got a lot of stuttering.

Switching back to DX11, my frame rates were normal and no stutters

Affirmative, performance is down with the beta or me too. I had to set DLSS from quality back to balanced and off screen terrain pre caching up to Ultra to get decent frame rates. (I'm running double wide 5185 x 1440p). But yes frames and stutters are here that were not here before the beta.

So, I've been running DX12, going to now try DX 11 with the beta. Have to reboot the sim.

I understand for some this update might sound "minor" in big features, but reliability and SDK improvements are really important in the long run. When something in the SDK improves, you might not see the impact immediately, but dozen of add-ons will be affected, and they'll work better in the end.

Very good point and well said!!!

Bingo! Thank you, Ricardo41 !

I just switched to DX11. Not a single stutter. FPS over 50% better. The Beta was flyable in DX12 by turning down settings. But in DX11 it very much better and stutter free !

Before the Beta version, I liked DX12 better than 11. But not with the Beta!

The only issue I have with the BETA is I can't see the ATC window by using the mapped button I have been using for a year now: DISPLAY ATC.

But if I use the overhead toolbar thing, the ATC window will show up just fine. Very odd.

Same experience, stuttering, I.e. freezing for up to a second, every 13 to 48 seconds. Empty community folder and nothing simconnected. Will try to switch to DX11, thanks for the tip.

It will work wonders (the switch to DX11) !

Just did an RNAV approach into Bali using the latest beta.

Lots improvement on the sideways/sensitive rudder issue on the 78X! I can actually land and track centerline without feeling like it landed on ice.

No sudden jerking movements on AP disconnect.

Hope to get the proper build (V0.1.13) that was meant to ship with the beta soon - the only thing would be the CG issue from simbrief loading which I understand is already fixed now.

Flight plan and winds all uploaded without issue.

Great work MSFS team and Working Titles team!

Cheers,

Chen

They promised that 2020 would still get updates even after 2024 released, including World Updates.

bug fixes for 2024 that also work in 2020 would be back ported too

Why would us users want them to spend resources on 2020 after 2024 is released?

When they say updates I hope they are talking about making it current with OS and gfx-drivers so that it is running.
