Interesting.

Well, now it's time for my main meal. Ham and cheese sandwich, milk, and vanilla ice cream dessert.

What about whole spaghettis al dente with a dash of olive oil, grated Italian cheese and plenty of macerated black olives, a slice of French cheese with my own bread and  a large glass of beer. A flat peach to end.

But I digress...

Apart from the Comanche which is a masterpiece and maybe the Fenix but I'm not sure, average quality of addons have generally lowered... sadly.

I think you're blinded by having such an active community, where a handful of quality releases could grow from the mountains of manure that was released (and charged for). Some of the big addon releases and developer names that you probably have in mind as the defining quality, took years to form and release. 100% disagree that the quality has lowered. I say the average bar has been raised and so has demand for said quality.

Your opinion, sure. Reality?  Not so much.

Not at all.  You must have forgot the early days of FSX we had products like Wilcopub

We didn't have in depth addons till much later in fsx life cycle.  Even now development takes even longer because developers are still trying to tackle the sdk/new sim.

I never understand why people choose to play a sim that makes them unhappy.  All those older sims people seem to love to bring up still exist.  It is great that we have so many sim options.  More options are always better for everyone.

All I can say is that as a mostly GA flyer, MSFS 2020 has brought me back to the hobby I loved.  I had given up on FSX ever running well, no matter how much hardware you threw at it.  I was enjoying X-Plane, but there was a long time I didn't even have a PC capable of playing games.  I get that not everyone flies the same way and will have different opinions.  Some prefer the big iron and I get that.  I used to fly those back in the day.

I will say that MSFS 2020 has brought more people and much more resources back into the hobby that was stagnating.  I mean, we're seeing MSFS at mainstream gaming shows.  I don't remember something like that ever happening.  There was a time we thought MS Flight Sim was finished.

Three years after the release, I see with glee all these marvelous aircraft, the Comanche, the Fenix, the Spit’, the 737, the 310 etc., I also see a booming scenery industry. Freeware has never been so creative.

Then I remember the despicable schadenfreude of those who predicted the death of a « greedy » cottage industry in 2019/20, I remember the wannabee guru who was adamant that the  WASM and Xbox environment or whatever wouldn't allow complex addons.

They’ve left the stage but reality rubbed their nose in their pee.

Almost every week you post this gleeful stuff! Can you tell me what the point is?

I think many here have already formed opinions about the state of the game.

You will not sway naysayers with this stuff. Don't mean to be rude but it just seems like a rant with no purpose.

I don't come here that often. When I do I generally ignore the posts that get personal but having read the initial post I feel I really want to point something out:

The "Doomsayers" were criticising a product. Whether that criticism was justified is open to individual interpretation but in general it was within the rights of those consumers to criticise that product.

The initial poster of this thread however has been quite nasty about people, he has made the issue somewhat personal.....not nice. IMO much worse behaviour than the doomsayers.

Horrible behaviour.

Just saying.......I'm off again.

Flying with the Xbox controller has turned out to be very enjoyable and intuitive, especially if you’re familiar with the aircraft irl even on aircraft like the 787.

As one 787 pilot to another the 3rd best thing you could buy yourself now would be the thrustmaster 787 yoke and throttle, it works on the Xbox.

( the 1st & 2nd things would be a powerful pc and VR headset 😉)

Absolutely, but remember, you are only talking to your fellow simmers, not MS.  (I know, Asobo mentioned this forum one time, but I don't think they regularly visit here).  You're "preaching to the choir" so to speak.

I didn't take the original post that way Gary.  I think Dominique meant the people behind the scenes who said MSFS would fail, not the people who bought the sim and had genuine complaints, as even Dominique has, and has been very critical of the lack of response to bugs sometimes, as have I.

This must be the first time in many years of coming to this forum that I have walked away from a thread with an inspired idea for dinner. Amazing.

I think you are missing my point:

The distinction between being nasty about a product and being nasty about people.
