Coming in X-Plane 12.0.8 and beyond – Roadmap Update

Recommended Posts

Beat me to it 🙂

I don't mind the price increase. Has been forever since the last one, good progress on fixes and improvements.

Considering the price of pay ware addons, P3D still goes for $60, and MSFS goes for $60 - $120, it seems reasonable.

I would expect an increase on the next major iteration. The fact that it was released at $60 then suddenly being bumped up by another $20 is surprising. I suppose they probably have a financial need right now. I'm not impacted by this so I'm fine.

I think the price is fine.  Consumer goods have all increased after covid.  Everything just costs more.

What I'm really excited about is their 12.1.0 WIP update....  no more square clouds, MSAA improvements, cloud shadows in water, CPU perf fixes

Looks like they're also working on the G1000, incl SVS and weather radar

Hopefully it's "projects we're not ready to share".

It's called in inflation. The central banks have their printers on warp speed. Zimbabway 2.0 coming to theater near you.

Quite a lot to be excited about, but hopefully the MSAA improvements will also fix the terrible AA.

When XP12 was offered for a discounted $30, many outside of X-Plane were convinced it was because LR needed the money, due to dismal sales.  Now a price increase is the reason for financial need??

But like you said, it doesn't impact you.  But thank you for your input.  Even though it was incorrect.

If they fix the awful aliasing, I'd be over the moon. 12.1.0 looks great.

The problem with avsim forums right here^^^
He said ‘I suppose’. It was just his opinion. You can’t say his opinion was incorrect. He/she can just as easily say yours was. Who cares about the financials anyway? Just fix the AA!

It was a journey of ups and downs... early betas were fine then the rcs were a biiig step back and the first official release versions I nearly gave up with... now on 12.07 me quite happy and it evolved in a version I am happily using. But as others stated the AA is quite still a real bugger. But we know thats in part subjective too and depending a lot on hardware... AMD... cough cough... the roadmap looking good and I really hope some more people support xp cause a monopolism is nothing we want and the only other competitor beside the ms one is literally dead. Pricewise the decision seems more than valid to me.

Cheers T.

Personally, I think it's good etiquette to correct misinformation when equipped with the facts.

I'm sure brinx appreciates you speaking for him/her, but perhaps you could let brinx respond personally.  He/she may have a different opinion to yourself.

Rest assured, I will tag you if/when I feel we can engage in a discussion.

Have a nice day.  🙂

AA for starters, that is true. But also look at the goods we already have. The sheer amount of high fidelity special airliners classic/none classic etc. X-plane 12 is filling the gaps of MSFS nicely!! And it becomes even better. I love it.

I am also happy about the clouds and weather engine. XENVIRO is really hitting my PC hard with its forced shaders that vanilla weather emulation improvements really come like a welcoming surprise.
