Windows 10 or 11

Featured Replies

I still am running under Windows 10 and was reluctant to upgrade due to reported issues with 11. Should I upgrade now?

My system specs: Intel [email protected] - 5.2 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, 32GB  DDR4  RAMNoctua NH-D15 CPU Cooler,1TB Seagate SSD, 4TB Seagate HD, Windows 10, Asus 32 inch monitor, Saitek Yoke, Throttle Quadrant, Rudder Pedals and Trim Wheel     Sims: MSFS2020      Preferred Aircraft  Black Square Bonanza, and Baron, A2A Comanche, PMDG DC-6, Red Wing L1049

October 5th 2021. That was the Windows 11 release date. Maybe give it another couple of years just to be sure.

There re 0, nada, zilch issues with Windows 11 and games.

Windows 12 in 2024 btw

Windows 11 works fine with msfs.  Definitely upgrade and W11 handles HDR much better if you use it.

Many, if not most of us are on W11 now with no problems at all.

Windows 11 is functionally a small upgrade over 10. Everything that works under 10, works under 11 too. Few minor (awful imo) UI decisions that can be easily rectified and some under-the-hood improvements like some tweaks to the CPU scheduler, HDR improvements, WDDM improvements in how it handles multiple monitors and refresh rate differences etc.

I have been running MSFS in W11 for over a year.  No issues with MSFS or anything else.
Drag and drop to active taskbar apps is working fine now.  That was the only W10 feature I missed initially.

Other than that, only advantages are latest security, and better with Intel 12000 series onwards due to recognising and handling of the Eco / Power cores on those chips.

Ran Win11 since it launched. Seemingly a lot of the issues i had with MSFS at the time disappeared after installation. I am not saying that Win 11 was the reason, but  no game stopping issues at all since?

Win 11 and no looking back here, for several reasons, but simulation-wise, mostly due to stability.

That's surprising though I guess some can't upgrade due to unsupported hardware (though there are workarounds).

Like many, I am usually not willing to move to a new version of windows until I am satisfied that any initial bugs are ironed out but otherwise would always want to be on the latest version to ensure support and security in the future. I may even wait to jump to msfs2024 until any early issues are resolved

Most who have posted on here seem to be using W11 from what I can tell.

I've been running Win 11 (simming) for almost 2 years with no issues whats so ever, rock solid.

Windows 10 mainstream support ends in Oct 2025.  That's when security patches will stop being released for Win 10.  So, you have a little under 2 years to figure out a plan.

Went back to Win10 after one of 'brilliant' Microsoft service packs, when i lost performance and whole P3D went crazy.

So far Win10 is rock solid even still some updates received - I hate them ... 🙂
