Well, I gotta say...I don't know if any of you have ever written anything resembling a serious software product, let alone something as complex as a complete aircraft simulation, but this word not allowed is word not allowed hard to do!

Just on the physics/airplane side, there are aerodynamic characteristics, avionics, control algorithms, mechanical components, navigation equipment, heat transfer equations and so, so much more to understand, conceptualize and physically model. That's a mini engineering degree right there.

And then you have to put it into code, you have to render it, preferrably rapidly, so as not to drain performance. For that you have to have an understanding of programming (and not just hacking together a JS webserver, but actually implementing fast and robust algorithms), computer graphics, optimization and then some.

All this is to say...it takes a heck of a lot of skill, time, money, people, and a lot of energy to do. I just had to write this, after seeing all this word not allowed on here and especially on every word not allowed Fenix thread. The patience these Devs have... man.

Who needs depressants anyway? Ah maybe to counter the anti-depressants, I see.

Twitch streams have been even worse. long ways to go from what I have seen, Approach and landing behavior looks dreadful.

I didn't have the 717 on P3D, but from what I've heard that was also very rough and never completely fixed. I think that's what you get with TfDI, unfortunately. Still hoping for improvement obviously, since the MD11 is such a unique airplane.

I don't think it's fair to call the 717 very rough.  By the end it was actually very good.  I admit it had issues when P3DV5 came out with lights and such.  But in V4 it was a very nice airplane.  Some bugs took a while to get fixed.  But most did.

Alright thanks, then I take back what I said.

My apologies, folks, I really didn’t mean to make this a negative post 🍻. I’ve had their 717 and absolutely loved it, and I’ll do the same the minute the MD11 comes out. I’ve been beta testing sim and avionics software for 20+ years, I think I know what goes into this process.

I had just hoped it would be further ahead in order to avoid a rushed release in 60 days.

Cheers,

Pete

I can vouch for the 717 being a great addon too. Was rocky when it was first released, but easily ended up as one of the best addons out there.

im just sitting back and watching this train wreck that is TFDI. There is nothing they could have done to make me pre order the MD11. I hope it ends up being a nice plane but im good off paying to beta test. That video IS rough. Its not negative to say that because thats what it is. It just seems like a rushed project all around.

I got this downloaded successfully the other night.  I think when I tried on release day it was at a moment when many others were trying to get it and it was kicking me out.

Only thing is I did not seem to get any liveries with mine.  I am seeing YouTube videos with some liveries like FedEx and UPS and now American but heck if I can find them.  I assume they are someplace else on the TFDi website?

I have only done a walk around and a high speed aborted takeoff test.  I need to learn the systems but need a solid day off to do that.  The basic model looks pretty good minus some obvious missing details.  Textures are obviously basic at the moment but will likely be much better when the final product is finished.  Not sure if its just my basic setup or what but lets just say that aborted takeoff was not really planned.  Despite being set for take off ready lots of stuff was not properly working.  Like I said I need to dive in and figure it all out!

The TFDI 717 with the Parallel 42 Immersion was one of my favorite planes in P3D. I did a lot of Delta flights in it. I have the CE MD-11 and I look forward to what they bring to it. From reading the bug logs and asking questions, a lot of the items will be taken care of. Can't wait for the official release.

Am I the only one disappointed about the progress status of the MD11? I’m a huge fan of the MD11 and will of course purchase, but in those YT videos this looks still awfully rough, imho.

Keep in mind this is the first flyable version. There's still a lot of work to do until its final release.

I'm not going to buy it just now, if it had a $15-20 discount i might, but as it is right now i'll just hold my horses.
