So, you are just assuming then? ‘lol’. They’ve never said that.

There is nothing obvious about it at all, hence the reason people get so frustrated when things on that list have been IGNORED for 3 years.

Here are examples where they've spoken about how they use the feedback snapshot.. Even without actually hearing this from them, is it really a reach to conclude that they take the user requests as *one* source of input into their decision making process of what to work on? Surely they can't spend all their time working *only* on the top user requests, and even if they did all of them still wouldn't be done.

We typically have a meeting on the feedback snapshot, where we talk it through, ...

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/live-dev-q-a-november-18th-2022/559760
So we’re continuously trying to prioritize. I know I’ve actually been slacking on the feedback snapshot, so I’m going to get back on this with Martial and Seb. We prioritize that way. We prioritize on votes, often. Sometimes it takes longer.

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/march-2023-developer-stream/584333
I just wanted to say, we read the forums all the time. I mean, as a matter of fact, half of my weekend is spent reading forums, and we have a team of people that is dedicated to reading forum posts, and they surface issues to us all the time. And we have meetings about it. Honestly, that’s what the feedback snapshot was also for, and the Wishlist and all that stuff

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/may-2023-developer-stream/591452
So we are, as you know, one of the things we are using to guide our development is the feedback snapshot. And Martial and I just talked with test leads and producers earlier today about this. The feedback snapshot is great, but we need to go – we focus a lot on the top items because they seem like they’re most important to everybody

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/september-2023-live-developer-stream-transcription/610612
But we’ve just started this again, meeting every Monday to discuss priorities. These priorities come from the feedback snapshot, which has many items.
Well, as seen in the previous slides, we’re actively engaged in various improvement efforts. Some of these are centered around addressing concerns from the feedback snapshot

You’re a really condescending person, I noticed it with your replies to others too. Not sure if you’re aware of it or not. Anyways I’ll be blocking you now so won’t see your reply, so don’t waste your time.

Tata.

Thanks for the feedback!, you're of course a shining example of forum decorum it seems so I'll try to learn from you. Tata. (Oops I guess I wasted my time)

Thanks for the tip, I didn’t know I could block you

edit: actually I’m struggling to figure out how, would you mind posting instructions?

No.

In all seriousness, this was the most civil and polite AVSIM argument I've ever seen. Not one vulgar insult.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.

To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

I do not know if she is a flightsim enthusiast or not, or was before MSFS or not, but wouldn't this role be better suited to someone who has a deeper understanding within the community? And can 'get the point' across? She always seems to sidestep the issue, or isn't firm enough. For the want of a better expression, she's like a Californian teenager.

She was a gamer before the 2020 came out and had a YT channel, but I don't think she was ever an old school simmer with years of experience and I agree with you. I also think it's deliberate on Microsoft's end to have someone like Jayne to moderate these events to not dig deep into the obvious issues and put these guys on the spot. Yesterday was a perfect example on how out of touch they can be when the questions are asked directly from the chat and not from the forums, for which they have time to prepare a BS response on.

Jayne has gotten into simming since becoming the community manager. She will sometimes join in on the friday flights, she has some equipment. A year ago for her Birthday she got to do a real discovery flight as well.

I agree that Jane will moderate to some extent.  But to be fair, I have seen Jane put them on the spot, and she has done it quite often, with questions from the Twitch chat.

From my experience, I have had good success in getting Jane to ask my questions. I have asked about the green roads, the delay with the world hub, when would they do open beta testing (which they finally caved into), the status of their ground handling improvement, etc, and some of my questions came from the Twitch chat.

My overall impression of Jane when she does pull questions from the Twitch chat, is that she sometimes even pulls the tough questions from the chat.  For the last few Twitch Q&As, I didn't watch the entire thing so maybe things have changed. But for the Twitch Q&As I did tune into in 2020, 2021, and 2022 (I tuned into all Twitch Q&As from 2020 to 2022), my recollection is that Jane, from time to time, will put them on the spot with tough questions drawn from the Twitch chat (but yes, I agree she does do some moderation to make it easier for them).

the MSFS twitter posted a higher res version of the 2024 image. I also saw it pointed out that if you use the windows maps app, the Grand Canyon has Photogrammetry already.

Ahhh, if this type of detail is only available in areas of photogrammetry coverage rather than extrapolated from aerials, that’s quite restricting.

They're doing a new thing for 2024 which they can generate height data from the satellite imagery. Jorg specifically pointed out Mount Kilimanjaro in the trailer.

edit: oh my brain, you mentioned that

The trailer does show rocks and trees in areas without photogrammetry, but yeah photogrammetry will always be better than satellite imagery.

Wow that looks d*mn good. Guessing this is a showcase of a combination of their new terrain rendering tech: photogrammetry or detailed DEM, 3D model replacement of trees/bushes/rocks, tessellation, 2D->3D even maybe (i.e what they spoke about here: https://youtu.be/VPhScg_FINE?t=939)

This level of elevation detail is unlikely gotten just from DEM no matter how fine the DEM resolution I'd think?. But that said at the FSExpo presentation Jorg does mention "improved cliffs" that come from increased DEM resolution.

Will be interesting to see non-photogrammetry areas (with detailed or not-detailed DEM) and how those improve with the 2D->3D tech (i.e. Mt Kilimanjaro in the trailer) along with tessellation and ground details improved by AI+ML.

The Canyon is photogrammetry. You can see the tell tale signs. Plus the canyon is already covered by it in Bing Maps

The question is if terrain morphing will still occur in MSFS 2024. It's a real immersion killer when flying close to mountains.

Yup, and it’s been forgotten about too. At least that’s the impression I get, it’s certainly not talked about anymore.
