I'm going to guess that Aerosoft would probably know if MSFS 2024 came out with an A330, because Jorg probably would have told the Aerosoft CEO.  If my memory is correct, Aerosoft was an official partner for MSFS, and they were one of the first major 3rd party developers to go with MSFS, specifically their CRJ.  So I think with Aerosoft's relationship to the MSFS team, specifically with Jorg, I think they would be notified if MSFS 2024 will have an A330 by iniBuilds. And if Aerosoft knew MSFS 2024 was coming out with an A330, they probably would have pushed their own A330 otu faster before MSFS 2024. The fact that they are delaying their A330, I doubt Jorg has paid iniBuilds to make an A330 for MSFS 2024 (but iniBuilds could decide to make their own A330 for MSFS 2024 without being paid by Microsoft).

The E-Jets guys do work together with the Aerosoft A330 guys in the sense that they will use the A330's LNAV once it is finished for their E-Jets. (This is not official.) But they certainly haven't taken over the A330, because they themselves don't even have developers that can do LNAV.

I wonder, wouldn't be easier for E-Jets just to use Microsoft Avionics Framework (https://github.com/microsoft/msfs-avionics-mirror/tree/main) that is written by WT which has LNAV and VNAV APIs that can easily used by aircraft developers (unless they want to do everything in C++?)? 🤔

Good point. Now that you mention it. Yes, MK back then referred to something coming „soon“. But soon obviously is nowadays not only PMDGs trademark but also Aerosoft‘s when I consider that a CRJ update was also anticipated „soon“

I had assumed that the MSFS20204 announcement that came soon after the Otter was pulled was the answer he was hinting at. 

If it means the A330 will be a better product overall, I actually don't mind them delaying the release. The fact they are taking the time to do multiple engine models this time around can only be a good thing I think. But it is Aerosoft of course so let's wait and see what they come up with.

The duration of the grant they have obtained from the German Goverment is until May 31, 2025. So they still have plenty of time to complete the plane.
I don't know the details of this particular project, but in Europe you usually have an audit at the end date where you are expected to justify expenses and show results.

Oh…the delay must be because Aerosoft is throwing all of it resources behind the CRJ update…

I wonder if they're hoping to cash-in on the same sort of sales boost the CRJ received by being the first (semi-)complex add-on for MSFS.  It didn't turn out well over time, but a lot people were happy just to get anything when it first launched.  Of course, that assumes they have the A330 ready to go when MSFS 2024 launches.

I'm a bit skeptical about how smooth the transition from MSFS to MSFS 2024 will be when it comes to complex add-ons.  Looking at the MSFS 2024 FAQ again, I just realized they're sort of specific that 'Marketplace' add-ons will be supported which gives them some wiggle-room when it come to breaking non-Marketplace add-ons.  They also use the phrase 'virtually all', which gives them another out if some of the more complex add-ons in the Marketplace break.  

The FAQ also states that Marketplace add-ons won't need to repurchased, but what's to stop individual developers from deciding to release 'Airplane X - 2024 Edition' instead of continuing to support their existing products.  Hopefully the existing aircraft will just work, but 'support' could mean something closer to, "It'll load and basic simulator features will work, but the flight characteristics might be off and some of the custom features developers have created won't work without more development time on their end."
