Should I wait for MSFS 2024? 

I'm Getting back into simming after a 20 year break, and buying a new PC for MSFS.  I've read that simmers are having major issues with MSFS 2020. I'm debating buying 2020 Basic for use now, then 2024 Premium when available.  Is 2020 worth buying for a few months use, or wait for 2024? 

Only a very few are having major issues with MSFS, for most it is a great sim. I have had 2 CTDs in 2,000+ flights. Most stable sim I have ever had.

If you are asking the question then you probably don't want to wait. Standard is a cheap entry point.

"Major issues"? Where did you read this? The sim runs great even on potato hardware. 

And buy the Premium Deluxe version of the sim. 

Like Bob, I have had 2 or 3 crashes after over 1,000 flights and I think nearing 1,500 hours of flight time, so I don't think there are major problems for the majority of users. 

If you want to jump back in the basic version is only $60.00 which even for just six months is well worth it. You can get familiar with the new interface and the strengths and weaknesses of the platform, but it is a giant step forward from anything we had before, and the community is bigger than anytime in our history, as far as I can remember. And we have been assured that virtually all of our add-ons will work in 2024 so unless you are on a budget and the $60.00 is a meaningful expense, I would just go ahead and get started.

Buy MSFS2020 now you won't regret it as MSFS20204 is still months away, yes there are some big issues and a ton of smaller ones, but for the most part the pros far outweigh the annoying cons.

FS2020 is very stable. It is just the nature of things that people that are experiencing issues will post more as they are seeking solutions. They tend to be frustrated, angry and blame the game itself for a while until they get it sorted.

Right now is the best time for Flight Simulator. It is beautiful and there has never been such high quality 'stock' aircraft and scenery. If you can swing it, I would highly recommend going premium as there are some nice aircraft (Cessna Longitude for example) included. There obviously is, and always will be, room for improvement, but it is mostly nitpicking at this point.

If you love Flight Sim, don't wait.

If you're feeling the urge after a 20 year break, I'd say get it!   It's by a long margin, the best flight simulator we've ever had in the community.  There are some small bugs but it is more stable for me than FS2004, FSX, XP11 and XP12 ever were.

I’ve been simming for nearly 30yrs. I have XP12 installed and an old copy of P3D 5.4.
 

MSFS is the most stable, best looking and despite many comments about flight models being better elsewhere, the higher fidelity aircraft (PMDG 73, FENIX etc) seem pretty good to me (not a RW airline pilot and surely only those can compare). I do have a PPL but don’t fly GA in sims…maybe I should!

that exactly describes my feelings concerning the sim, cept I’ve been simming over 40 years LoL.

I'm waiting for 2024 but that's probably irrelevant to your dilemma since I already have MSFS 2020.🤪

I can honestly say the same.  Maybe 1 CTD in thousands of flights, and who knows if that had anything to do with the sim and not some freak out by my computer or connection?

 

If you're into flightsims, there is no reason to wait, unless you're struggling so hard with cash you would put aside a hobby for so long to save a few bucks.

Buy it. 20 years is long enough to wait 🙂

If you manage to get a sale, go Premium Deluxe. The 787 has turned into one of my favorite MSFS birds.
