Hopefully by then they sort out the premium voices pricing because once traffic gets implemented, the premium characters count will diminish in a few flights.

You can use basic voices for AI traffic.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

You guys must have all missed the part where the dev put it to a vote and the majority asked them to release early. Several of us said yes, release early but just be prepared for the dogpile of people

I can see premium voices going very quickly between AI traffic and the number of centers I have been handed off to.

Ratchet (one of the devs) said, on discord we won't be able to separate chatter from ATC talking to us.

There seems to be a disconnect between the dev and the marketing page. The marketing page reflects what Fiorentoni said.

There is literally an option in the settings where you can set the AI traffic voice quality (basic or premium). Of course ATC will talk in premium to AI traffic, but this they'll have to figure out because people will stop using premium otherwise and BATC loses its top quality.

Some of the BATC voices are a tad "aggressive", yes, but the immersion is on another level with Premium voices. Really hard to explain if you haven't experienced it yourself. It lets you almost forget it's a robot you're talking to 😄

Yeah that’s the one thing BATC has above Si. The voices are ten times better with BATC.

So you always get Melbourne…? Weird error. It seems like somethings wrong with Simconnect. You should report on Discord.

EDIT: or do you mean you get the correct names at the bottom, but no voice? Also no options (buttons) to talk to ATC?

ok solved my issue myself 🙂  had  to recycle the  voice quality  all is  good   did  one  flight no issues from take off to landing  , impressed  with the  voices understood me  no worries  better  than p2a.   Didn't  have  any issues  with the  sid  departures  and  star  arrivals

Ratchet isn't a dev but a mod. Big difference. And he his comments should be taken with a pinch of salt because his answers concerning BATC aren't er... always right.

Another couple of flights for me today without issues, vectoring was good and a smooth experience all the way from gate to gate. I can’t fly without it now!

Thanks for the clarification.

Long-time P2ATC user here, been testing FSHUD, and now BATC.  FSHUD is decent, but for some reason when it injects the traffic, it's disabling most of the AI traffic's strobes and nav lights on my system (not sure what that's all about).

Checking out BATC, I like it!  So far no major issues and very smooth (as another said, gate to gate).  Certainly no more or less "on rails" than P2ATC.  Right now P2ATC has that extra touch of warning the user of nearby traffic, but I can see BATC catching up to that, especially once it starts injecting its own traffic.

BATC, of course, has the awesome voices and UI.  Even the basic voices sound great to me and I like having the option of using (or not using) premium voices.  I think I'll stick with this and see how it goes.

Clarity

I’m happy to hear about all of the people who are really enjoying BATC. I’ve had a bumpier ride though, especially with speech recognition. About a third of the time it fails to understand me and just gets angry at me after. I’m giving the correct response (sometimes just repeating a frequency) and when I give up and get the app to say it for me it says exactly the same as me. I speak with a very vanilla (BBC English) accent and have never had issues with other speech recognition software. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Check your microphone volume setting in MSFS and the position of your mic. How much % do you make in the mic test in the BATC settings?

I got 100% when I did the mix test originally. I’ll have to check the volume settings again though. Thanks!

Same here. I seems to struggle with 9 and 4 in particular. I‘ve noticed that when I pronounce them more American (i.e. rhotic) it understands me much better.
