I'm posting this right here because it will be flightsims in particular that will be ruined by brief pauses, such as every 3 seconds. This new default Windows feature doesn't sound good for a stutter free flights.

" Windows 11 Will Record EVERYTHING You Do. Microsoft will record your screen every three seconds with a app called Recall. "

Will means future, not right now. But soon. Unless at that time you will go to group policy and turn off Recall. The storage requires at least 50 GB. It can be 150GB if you have larger drive space available (over 1TB).

Pay attention when windows 24H updates come out. I am going to disable Bitlocker and Recall. According to this video you have to use Group Policies changes to disable Recall. A large number of people who have purchased computers probably could not even tell you what "Group Policies" is.

 

 

 

 

I have a few other reasons to not be allowing that word not allowed on my PC.

If MS continue down this path I may switch to X Plane as that can run under Linux, will be a shame but this is getting silly now

But then they couldn't take advantage of people's ignorance about it to make claims how high a percentage of people are using it. 😉

I'd be surprised if even 30% of users would chose to have it active, quite probably significantly fewer than that. No use to me, for sure.

How to delete Recall.

Note the first response from Sumit, to wit:

We need a stripped-down OS just for us.

Sad that Asobo is tied to MSFT. I wouldn’t put it past them to force MSFS2024 to be Windows11 only at some point.

Why would Microsoft - the same company that develops MSFS introduce a “feature” that would essentially ruin one of its most profitable games? Im not here to discuss the technologically immoral practice of recording our every move, but it wouldn’t make sense for a new OS background app, that they designed — to render one of their flagship games, unplayable. Doesn’t add up.

Looks like this is for laptops running ARM version of windows on Snapdragon or other ARM processors.  Guessing NA for x86 processors.

Switch to Windows 11 LTSC when it releases. I've been running LTSC versions for years and they are amazing. 

Yes, you can buy an LTSC license. They dont' make it very clear that you can, but you can. See here.

Of course, you can pirate it as well, but I wouldn't recommend that. Just spend the ~$250 and have a clean stable box for years to come. Don't buy Windows 10 LTSC right now, as Windows 11 LTSC is about to come out in a couple months.

I am currently running Windows 11 LTSC (the RTM version was leaked and I moved over to it from 10 LTSC) and everything works great - MSFS, the windows Store, Steam, X-Place 12 etc.. it just has ZERO intrusive "features". It's like Windows used to be.. it's great.

I'd guess that it would render any game unplayable. The technology is smart enough not to take screenshots when your browser is in incognito mode so it should be smart enough to skip games as well.

And since the function can be disabled entirely i see no real issues for us simmers.
