MSFS Old School T-Prop wish list

Featured Replies

I don’t know about anyone else, but I miss the old school T-Props that were available in FSX and P3D.  Here’s my “wish list” of those aircraft I would like to see in MSFS. I know the chances are very slim that any will be developed. So, in no particular order (with the exception of the first two):

Vickers Viscount

Vickers Vanguard

Swearingen Metroliner

Fokker 50

NAMC YS-11

Convair 580

Lockheed L188

Hawker Siddeley HS748

There are probably some that I’m forgetting 🙂

I agree with your list, but here are the two you forgot 😉

Bristol Britannia

Armstrong Whitworth Argosy

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

I know on the official forums there's been a strong call for an NAMC YS-11. They were used globally and represent quite a unique design. Simmers from the FS2002/2004 era were fortunate to have a high fidelity version from the AlliedFSGroup (AFG), with FSX and P3D having the lesser-known Aerosim model. Nothing since then for something like 15+ years now. A high-fidelity model I think would make a killing.

Outside of that, I'd personally love to see the following older turboprops:

  • GAF Nomad (seemingly a truly forgotten aircraft. A little less than 200 were produced. I haven't seen a good one ever, though I think one or two basic models were produced for FS2002)
  • Tupolev Tu-114 (and may as well do the Tu-95 and Tu-142 at that point)
  • Antonov An-24
  • Beriev Be-12

Howard 500's weren't turboprops were they?   Still a cool plane though.

Handley Page Herald.  Although I am adding it just for completeness as it wasn't the best looking was it?

Being a Brit, if I had to narrow it down I would say just throw us a good Viscount or HS 748 with all those potential classic paint jobs from around the world.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

hmm my pick would be the turbo commander - preferably the 1000

also I wonder how the original Herald would go with the 4 engines - would be a lot of fun to see that one

I really enjoyed the PMDG Jetstream 4100 in FSX. Not sure why they completely abandoned it in P3D.

Metroliner would be great! I have a friend who use to fly it.

Also Metroliner has a lot of funny nicknames like: sewer pipe, death pencil, kerosene crowbar, screaming weenie and etc LOL

I installed fsx-se for first time in 5 years last week just so I could fly that and their md11 again. Can't wait to do the tutorial mission again! Finicky bird but so satisfying when you get it right 😊
