Have a friend who recently flew the 777 on this same exact route as a repo flight also from a diversion. Said it was a ton of fun. So it does happen! Back in the FSX days, I used to fly the MD-11 almost exclusively and most of my runs were 1.5 - 2.0 hours. Didn’t care if it was a real world or not, it was fun and that’s what I’m here for! June 27, 20241 yr In Japan, both the B747 and the T7 are commonly used in high density and short routes of maybe less than one hour. Easy to verify. Anyway, the recently released B777-300ER won't be a purchase for me, because I mainly prefer shorter planes/airliners. Maybe the -200 when it's released. Let's see how the wallet will be too. June 27, 20241 yr Flight time difference seems minimal to me from SImbrief. So the question for me is the 777 that big a jump sim-wise from the 737 or basically the same just bigger. Is the cockpit visually better. Clearer more defined. Dont really care about the cabin. Rarely go back there. Starting to really like flying the 737-800. Just got it a month ago. Really waiting for the RJ from Flightsim though. Would really hate spending all that money if the difference between the 737 and 777 is minimal Ron MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. June 27, 20241 yr hehe, at 1:30 a.m. today, I heard a loud noise. It was an A380 JFK - EWR at 3,200 feet. They did a couple of loops over North Jersey too before heading into EWR. They've been doing reposition flights since who knows when in the area. 10700k / Gigabyte 3060

June 27, 20241 yr From an operator's perspective, it all depends on what your needs are. Most aircraft are designed with a specific use in mind. Operators will pick those types based on their routes and needs. You might have the 777 hit some vacation areas that are close because they don't have other routes/flights in that area. So it hits those places to service them all. I did the same in the KC-10 when deploying. We would carry cargo and passengers on the way in. We would hit two close by bases near Al Dhafra. We serviced them on the way in and on our way out. Sometimes, operators will operate based on their needs. I have this buddy in an operation where they own two G550s. They mainly fly the owner to two meetings twice a month on a 30 minute flight. They don't even break 100 hours a year. In general, it's thought that flying less than 200 hours a year is not worth owning a jet. Another group of buddies fly an owner daily on a 30 minute flight 5 times a week. So basically, 260 hours a year or more. Some owners who don't fly often will share or put their aircraft in charter services to make money when they are not using it. But in sim, do what you like. On average, I fly heavies and light aircraft in sim and only fly an average of an hour. I can only give the sim an hour of my time in a session. Within that hour, I fly everything under the sun. MD80, 737, 747, 787, why not? My favorite short run is between Miami and the Bahamas. But you can find all the happening places and look for an airport about an hour or so away. In the real world, you get the best experience during departures, arrivals and landings. During cruise, you are just burning gas and talking on the radios if you are not utilizing ADS-C. June 27, 20241 yr If you attempt to fly a 777-300ER on a short flight, the aircraft will detect what you are doing and immediately jettison both wings.😄 Jim BarrettLicensed Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, Avionics, Electrical & Air Data Systems Specialist.
