//42 Flow Pro FORCES brand logo into sim when used

Featured Replies

I don't like that the logo is animated as it draws your attention to it. At the same time, I don't understand how the logo can be immersion breaking but the popup menu over the sim is not. Besides the fact that the logo is animated, I don't really see an issue with the logo being there.

Similarly, I've seen people say Microsoft and Asobo should remove the logo when the sim is loading. It is not going to happen. Also seen, why do I need to see this Dune Expansion while loading.

A discussion of whether the logo is intrusive or not, is not a problem to me. However, I do think this issue should/could have been resolved privately without resorting to posting the emails though.

Well yes the wheel is 'immersion breaking' but so is the default tool bar I mean I recognise I need an onscreen interface to actually DO something so it's not an issue then. However part of their advertising for the product states it can be recalled "wherever the mouse cursor is" as discreet as you want bottom of screen out the way, in a corner, even on a separate screen I believe. Also there is a GHOST menu option I was most interested in where you can assign tasks to an invisible wheel that does NOT appear on screen. All kind of pointless to have these thoughtful discrete additions and then to whack you with a colourful logo top right corner regardless where you try and hide the wheel itself.

Regarding the PMDG branding it is CLASSY and SUBTLE. Hidden in a small dark corner of the aircraft you don't need to look at. IF they put a logo on the front window or in this case in the way of the actual scenery I'd never buy from them.

I don't care when the sim is loading what goes on screen, as long as it's sim related not advertising a new COD game for example. Inside my sim world though, where I go to ESCAPE from the real world and pretend I'm the world's most unappreciated pilot I want nothing but the plane, the scenery and a subtle interface when sim changes are needed during flight.

I remove the PMDG tablets when making videos. Not due to the branding but they throw off too much light and take up too much space so are distracting. Especially night flights.

I still think it's a trick !  //42 has a scheme.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

I have used Flow Pro daily since it was first introduced.  I have always thought that the logo in the top right corner was there to provide access to the SETTINGS Menu.  If  the menu icon is present and necessary - what is the harm of the FlowPro label/logo next to it?

As far as making streams or video captures - the logo is only present when the wheel is present so, IMHO, the logo adds no more distraction or immersion dilution than does the wheel.

Yesterday I purchased the full PRO version of Flow Pro via OrbX

After loading into the sim I noticed a bright multi coloured FLOW PRO logo top right of my window.

Obnoxious and intrusive, and certainly an immersion killer. I spent several minutes looking for a way to disable this but failed so removed the software and went to support to request a refund.

Am still awaiting a refund, but as the emails so far do not look hopeful I thought other Avsimmers might be interested in this situation and how it plays out.

Here is the correspondence so far,

I hope they do the honourable  thing and refund OR remove the logo for me.

The above is on screen at all times top right of your sim screen when you use their toolbar wheel. It fades in and fades out. Very obvious and distracting. I cannot have this display while making videos, live streaming or any night flight for obvious reasons. I am fine with free software doing this until you register/pay but software labelled as PRO full version heck no. Green my emails, blue theirs (parallel 42)

Hi

how to remove the FLOW PRO brand logo that appears top right sim whenever I activate the wheel?

this MUST be absent from the sim screen at all times -  instant refund request if not possible..I make content and I have a zero logo/sponsor/ads policy

this being there by default really makes me unhappy 😞

if you CAN remove it so ONLY settings cog appears this will be acceptable

if not possible to remove please inform re email so i can forward to orbx for refund

Hi ,

Thanks for reaching out. With regards to your question, there is no way to disable the flow logo that appears when activating the flow wheel.

If you would like to suggest this as a Feature you are more than welcome to put in a Feature Request via our Discord feature request channels.

With regards to a refund on your software purchase, I request you review our refund policy under Section 6 in particular subsection 8.

Hi

I have removed the software already, cannot use forced logos which is the first time ever I have paid for an item and had to display a logo
it's called PRO , the free version should have a logo, not the PAID full version.
Feel free to suggest this yourself to the team. As I wish to return the unusable (to me) product I would like an immediate refund please.
I cannot see anywhere on your support site the relevant
. Eligibility for Return and Troubleshooting Requirement.

option,
Please send me a link asap so I can apply for a refund. I have used the product for only 2 minutes until I could not find a way to turn the log off.
Then removed it from my system,
I will copy this message to OrbX if I have not heard back within 24 hours .
As I have no a soured opinion of your company it would be great if you could do the honorable thing
and save my time as much as possible by issuing a refund
Thanks

I am in dismay about this, seriously all because a logo? I hope you guys understand why the logo? you need a way to identify it is YOUR product. With how MSFS works anything can override anything, from JS code to HTML pages and eventually someone can inject a MOD that overrides your HTML Panels (in this case FLOW) having the logo ensures it is YOUR product running, is a branding to ensure is your thing.

This is not difference from the top panel icons being make unique, for example GSX, or other tools.

I don't get the post, seriously, I put my logo on my EFB tablets as well, I want people to know is my product when people post screenshots on forums, etc. Same with PMDG on their EFBs, or Fenix on theirs..

In broad terms, you are asking a company to remove their branding.. is like asking Pepsi to sell you a Pepsi without the logo, and then get upset because their response doesn't align with your ideas..

my 2 cents,
Raul

What a ridiculous interpretation. It is absolutely nothing like asking Pepsi to sell you a Pepsi without the logo. The equivalent would be after buying and then pouring your pepsi into a glass, every time you take a sip a pepsi employee pops up at your window holding a pepsi advertisement.

Why do you need a way to identify it is your product? The person knows it is your product - they have literally bought it.

Obviously I assume you'd be happy if overlaying your screen whilst flying you permanently had the logos of ORBX, Fly Tampa, PMDG, BeyondATC and  FS2Crew displayed as they were all in use at that time? After all, how would people know that it was their products when they posted screenshots?

I am confused!  My understanding of the logo is to identify the click spot to open the settings menu.

How should they identify that spot if not with text that says FloPro?

If we didn't complain, this might be our sim screens in the future (not sure there's room for a cockpit anymore!:

The setup screen tutorial that boots on start instructs you to set an action key/button to activate the software wheel. There IS no clickspot. When pressed the button brings up THREE separate screen overlays. One is the wheel you paid for, 2 is a big settings cog that you don't need on screen every time, only when setting up (but it is always there like it or not), and 3 the colourful logo this thread is all about...

EDIT:  Quote above is Raul, CEO of simbol, not 2reds2whotes

If I buy a Pepsi, it comes with a brand. To purchase I must use its Brand (can).  I get that.

Once I purchase and now desire to lose the brand (can) and consume my purchase, I do (glass).  I don’t want to drink from a can and Pepsi has no desire or ability to force me to.

In my mind, that’s all the OP wanted.  To drink from glass and not aluminum.  I get that.  simbol should too.

My 2 cents

Exactly. Imagine if the Pepsi molecules had some kind of corporate branding that actually went down your throat. That would be horrific, and not at all impossible to imagine in the future :O

The branding is needed at purchase to reassure the purchaser that they are buying an official product and not some scam/copy. Then you take it out the wrapper/box/bottle and throw that way, enjoying the product by itself. The brand is NOT the product, it is packaging/purchase related only.

I totally agree with @sloppysmusic on this... with so many people doing YouTube and Twitch these days, that logo is basically free advertisement for a paid product. If they want to include the logo, include it on the utility itself, don't obstruct the screen with it. Someone brought up the PMDG tablet... well, the tablet is made by PMDG and isn't a part of the actual aircraft. Imagine if they put their logo intrusively on the cockpit panel itself and didn't allow you to remove it...

If people don't push back on this, other developers will be inclined to do the same... imagine annoying popups for every addon you use. If it's free, I get it... I don't agree with it, but I get it... but for something you pay for, I don't think this should be an acceptable practice.
